Games to liven up your gift exchange Are you tired of the same old holiday gift exchange? If so, here are some fun games to enliven this year’s gift giving. win the right to open the present.
Do you love Christmas? If so, you’re not alone. In fact, every year, the spirit of the season drives holiday enthusiasts to per- form impressive feats. Here are some particularly remarkable Guinness World Records that are on theme. • Tallest chocolate Santa. Displayed in a mall in Cantù, Italy in 2011, this giant Santa was 5 metres tall, 2.5 metres in diame- ter and weighed just over 1,700 kilograms. That’s a lot of chocolate! • Most Christmas lights on a home. In 2014, the Gay family from LaGrangeville, New York deco- rated their home with over 600,000 individual lights. The display took two months to build and was set to more than 200 different songs, which passersby could hear when tuned in to a special AM radio station. • Largest artificial Christmas tree. Built by the Arjuna Ranatunga Social Services in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2016, this tree measured more than 72 metres high. It was erected during a three-day Christmas carnival and was topped by a 6-metre star.
• Cards. Cut some regular playing cards in half and distribute card halves to all parti- cipants. Draw the other card halves from a bowl or hat to determine who gets to choose or steal a gift next. • Story. Rewrite a well-known Christmas story to include the words right, left and across numerous times. To start the game, everyone holds the gift they brought as someone reads the story aloud. Every time an instruction word is said, the pres- ents get passed in that direction. To make sure that everyone receives a gift they’ll enjoy, be sure to decide on a budget and theme beforehand.
• Dice. Every number on the dice comes with an instruction (pass to the left or steal a gift). Take turns rolling the dice until eve- ryone has a present. • Hot potato. This childhood favourite is just as fun to play as an adult. Turn on a holi- day song and pass a present from person to person until the music stops. La période des Fêtes vous laisse invariable- ment complètement éreinté? Cette année, mettez toutes les chances de votre côté pour prévenir la fatigue en suivant ces quelques conseils éprouvés : 1. Mangez bien (et pas trop!) : misez entre autres sur un bon déjeuner ainsi que sur les fibres et les glucides complexes pour faire le plein de carburant et prévenir les baisses d’énergie. Pendant les partys , manger lentement vous aidera par ailleurs à limiter les excès de table. 2. Buvez beaucoup d’eau : non seulement l’eau permet à l’organisme de fonction- ner de façon optimale (notamment en ce qui concerne la digestion), mais la déshy- dratation entraîne un état de fatigue.
3. Bougez : en plus de contribuer au senti- ment de bien-être, l’activité physique favo- rise le sommeil. En outre, les sports d’hiver sont parfaits pour passer du temps de qualité avec vos proches. 4. Dormez suffisamment : entre les festivi- tés, assurez-vous de dormir assez et, idéa- lement, de respecter un horaire de som- meil régulier, et ce, même la fin de semaine. 5 tips for maintaining kids’ routines during the holidays
Over the holiday season, it’s all too easy for your children’s routine to get thrown off track. Here are five tips to help you stick to a schedule and hopefully keep meltdowns to a minimum. 1. Prioritize sleep. Tired kids tend to get cranky, hyper and easily flustered. While a late night or two are almost inevitable at this time of year, overall, it’s best to maintain
their regular sleep schedule. 2.Eat healthy. Make sure the entire family gets a healthy breakfast and lunch every day. Fill the kids up on fruits, vegetables and other healthy snacks before heading to a party. This way, they’ll have less room to gorge on cookies, cakes and other treats.

How to choose the perfect Christmas tree
Do you love seeing and smelling a real Christmas tree in your home? If so, here are some tips for choosing the perfect one. DETERMINE WHAT SIZE Choose a spot in your home to place your tree and don’t forget to measure it to make sure you don’t come home with one that’s too tall. The spot you select should be away from air vents so that the tree doesn’t pre-

3 games to play at the office holiday party
Are you looking for a way energize your holiday office party? If so, here are three fun games that virtually anyone can enjoy. 1. Office trivia. Before the day of the event, send a questionnaire to all employees asking them about their interests, pet peeves and preferred foods, books, movies and travel destinations. Col- lect the answers and use them to create an office trivia game. 2.Guess the word. Write words on individual strips of paper and then fold and place them in bowls. Each team chooses a player who will have to guess the word based on clues from their team- mates. 3.Gift wrap challenge. Put players in teams of two. Tie one person’s right hand to the other’s left and have them attempt to wrap a gift with their free hands. The pair that does the nicest job wins. If you play your office games in teams, assemble the groups ran- domly. A fun way to do this is to cut up old Christmas cards and hand out the pieces. Teams can then be formed by those who have pieces from the same card.

RECIPE - Beef Wellington with port sauce - RECIPE
Port sauce • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 1 French shallot, finely chopped • 3/4 cup port • 1 cup beef stock • 1 tablespoon butter • Salt and pepper Directions Beef
Assembly 1. Cover your work surface with a sheet of plastic wrap. Place the slices of prosciutto on the plastic wrap, overlapping them slightly to make a large square. 2. Using a spatula, spread the mushroom duxelles over the prosciutto, covering it completely. 3. Cover the mushrooms with the slices of foie gras. 4. Take the beef out of the refrigerator and place it in the middle of the square. Using the plastic wrap to help keep the components together, wrap the other ingredients around the beef, making sure it’s covered completely. Wrap the plastic tightly around the beef and accompanying ingredients and refrigerate the whole thing for one hour. 5. Preheat the oven to 425 °F. Dust the work surface lightly with flour and spread out the puff pastry. 6. Remove the beef from the refrigerator, take off the plastic wrap and place the meat on the pastry. 7. Wrap the pastry around the beef, making sure it’s completely covered. It should be spread uniformly and shouldn’t overlap, so be sure to cut any extra bits off. Brush the pastry with the egg yolk and trace a design using a knife, making sure not to pierce a hole through the dough. 8. Place the assembledBeefWellington on a baking
Are you hosting an intimate dinner with family or friends over the holidays? If so, this classic recipe may well be the perfect main course. Start to finish: 2.5 hours (50 minutes active) Servings: 6 Ingredients Beef • 3 pounds beef tenderloin (filet mignon) • 2 tablespoons butter • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard • Salt and pepper to taste Mushroom duxelles • 4 tablespoons butter • 3 French shallots, finely chopped • 25 ounces button mushrooms, finely chopped • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, finely chopped
sheet and bake for about 30minutes or until the beef reaches an internal temperature of 132 °F. Port sauce Start making the sauce halfway through the meat’s cooking time. 1. In a pot, heat the olive oil and sauté the French shallot. Add the port and simmer for a few minutes. 2. Add the beef stock and simmer until the sauce has reduced about halfway. Add salt and pepper to taste. Strain the sauce using a sieve and rinse the pot. 3. Return the sauce to the rinsed pot and melt the butter in it. Allow the Beef Wellington to cool for about 15 minutes before slicing. Serve with roasted potatoes and the port sauce. Enjoy! In order for this recipe to be a success, the mushroom duxelles must be very dry. Even a small amount of moisture will impact how the puff pastry cooks and result in a soggy crust.
1. Season the tenderloin with salt and pepper. 2. In a pan, heat the olive oil and butter. Once the pan is very hot, sear the beef for about 2 minutes on each side. Place the meat on a plate and dry using a paper towel. 3. Brush beef with the Dijon mustard and refrigerate. Mushroom duxelles 1. In the pan you used to sear the beef, melt the butter. 2. Sweat the French shallots in the melted butter. Add the mushrooms and sauté them over high heat for about 5 minutes. 3. Add the garlic and thyme and continue to cook for about 2 minutes. 4. Deglaze the pan with the white wine and continue to cook the mixture until the moisture has completely evaporated from it. Add salt and pepper to taste.
