We have come to an agreement,” said Bourgeois. “We are prepared, but we still need the attorney general’s consent.” Edgar will appear before the court one more time, on May 14, to make his plea for sentencing and to hear impact statements from family members. Bourgeois said the impact statement will not affect sentencing but for the court and for Mr. Edgar to know how his crime affected the family as well as the community. “Mr. Edgar will enter a plea of guilty to the charge,” stated Bourgeois. “Murder is murder; he will get life in jail. There is a possibility that he will be eligible for parole. That will be up to the judge and the parole board. Everybody is eligible for parole at some point. It’s just a matter of time.” Local LCBO’s giving back
The murder trial for Robert Edgar is almost at a close. The May 1 bail hearing was adjourned until May 14 when Edgar is expected tomake a plea of second-degree murder. Defense attorney Robert Miller and Crown Prosecutor Julie Bourgeois stated to the court that they had come to a plea agreement. The 78-year-old Edgar was arrested and charged in January in relation to themurder of his wife of 32 years, 83-year-old Zdenka

The Centraide/UnitedWay of Prescott Russell has several fundraising initiatives going on throughout the year to help fundmuch needed community services. Twice a year, local LCBO stores get involved by asking their customers to lend a hand and help out their community. Eight local LCBO’s in Prescott Russell have raised more than $28,000 in their latest initiative. “We are well known, but not well understood,” said Jodie Densmore, executive director of the Centraide/ United Way of Prescott Russell. “All of themoney raised in this campaign, goes directly to Centraide/United Way and the charities we support.” The Centraide/United Way does a lot of work for local communities with little resources. “It’s not always easy to ask customers for that extra dollar, but these stores have, and we are so grateful,” said Densmore. “What they have raised represents more than ten percent of our campaign.” The Centraide/UnitedWay of Prescott Russell will be hiring a post secondary summer student this year, to help out with several different aspects of the charity.
