Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) recently launched the 2026 Quad Zero Safety initiative, marking a significant milestone in the mine’s safety, health and environmental governance controls. In his welcome remarks, OLDM Senior Safety & Occupational Hygiene Manager, Mr. Kagiso Mogocha described the launch as a pivotal moment in the history of OLDM and Debswana at large. He emphasized that Quad Zero is not a once-off event or a compliance exercise but a clear demonstration of leadership commitment and accountability towards protecting people, the environment and surrounding communities. He reiterated that the initiative aims to strengthen safety, behavior and culture to ensure that everyone who comes to work returns home safely. Giving the key note address, Assistant General Manager, Mr. Pabalelo Nkhwalume highlighted Quad Zero is an opportunity for reflection and realignment towards OLDM’s safety goal. He noted that the focus remains on achieving Zero Injuries, Zero Pollution, Zero Occupational Illnesses and Zero Damages. Mr. Nkhwalume emphasized that incidents do not occur due to a lack of policies or procedures, but due to gaps in ownership, accountability and disciplined execution. He called on every employee and strategic business partners to take personal responsibility OLDM RECOMMITS TO QUAD ZERO SAFETY INITIATIVE Jwaneng Mine, the world’s leading natural diamond mine, recently hosted a group of newly appointed Botswana envoys for an induction visit and mine tour. Addressing the delegation, the General Manager Goitseone Gadifele underscored the diamond industry’s enduring developmental legacy and its continued relevance to Botswana’s economic growth. The General Manager cited Debswana’s strong positive impact in Community Development projects and services such as health, education and infrastructure development. He acknowledged the current challenges facing the global diamond industry, while emphasizing the strategic importance of closer collaboration with Botswana’s diplomatic missions,

particularly in key markets to support market recovery and sustained demand. The envoys expressed appreciation for the mine’s socio- economic impact and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the diamond industry to effectively promote Botswana’s diamond narrative within their respective diplomatic jurisdictions. On behalf of the team, Dr. Oatlhokwa Nkomazana thanked the Jwaneng leadership and team for affording them the opportunity to gain insights into the full natural diamond value chain. She added that they will proudly speak about natural diamonds and their origin, with a clear and informed understanding of the process.

Closing the launching ceremony, Debswana OLDM Business Partner and Skip Hire Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Machaba, encouraged employees to take heed of the messages shared during the launch, lessons learnt from the previous years and to use them as a guide in driving safety forward in their respective work areas. The launch featured individual and departmental awards recognizing exemplary safety performance, reinforcing OLDM’s commitment to motivating positive behavior and celebrating those who consistently uphold safety as a core value.
