cette intersection représentait un problème moins urgent, la construction du projet sur le chemin Ste-Marie et les autres dévelop- pements futurs vont faire en sorte que cette intersection sera bien trop achalandée d’ici quelques années. Lamajorité du projet est assez simple, soit la peinture de nouvelles lignes sur le chemin afin de délimiter les nouvelles voies. Pour permettre la création de ces nouvelles voies, des stationnements seront éliminés devant la Caisse populaire, Jean Coutu, Loiselle Sports ainsi que sur le chemin Ste-Marie, devant Latrémouille. Les deux plus grandes dépenses liées à ceci seront la relocalisation du poteau sur le coin de la Caisse populaire pour faciliter le virage à droite, ainsi que la
fermeture de l’entrée au stationnement du Jean Coutu sur la rue Notre-Dame. De plus, les signaux de décompte pour les piétons seront améliorés, demême que des boutons accessibles aux personnes handi- capées. Des détecteurs seront aussi ajoutés aux voies de virage à gauche et à droite afin d’améliorer le fonctionnement. Le conseil a donné son appui total aux CUPR pour l’exécution de ce projet. La pro- chaine étape, selon M. Bouchard, sera de consulter les propriétaires des établisse- ments qui seront touchés, dont la Caisse populaire, le Jean Coutu, etc. Une estimation des coûts sera préparée afin d’être intégrée dans le budget de 2017.

Right now it is just at the discussion stage, but counties council is starting to give some thought about the need for a new regional seniors’ retirement residence. Some of the mayors also wonder if it might not be time to consider theirmunicipalities as possible sites for such a project. The United Counties of Prescott-Russell council (UCPR) gave Chief Administrator Stéphane Parisien the mandate to review and report, at a later session, the current situationwith the Prescott-Russell Residence retirement facility in Hawkesbury, and the state of the counties’ current status available supported living seniors’ retirement accommodations. The decision resulted fromdiscussion during the June 8 committee of the whole session about the condition of the existing Residence and whether it meets current provincial construction guidelines for a seniors’ retirement facility. “If we’re going to be going through a
Police seek two suspects in car theft case Russell County OPP are asking for help from the public in identifying two men who are suspects in a case involving thefts from several vehicles in the Rockland area. Police report the thefts took place May 17 evening and involve a number of motor vehicles in the Town of Rockland. Both are described as white men, between 20 and 30 years old. One stands about five-foot-ten, has a medium build, is unshaven and has short dyed blond hair. He may be wearing an orange fluorescent construction-type jacket. The other suspect is about five-foot-eight, with a slim build, and is unshaven with short dark hair.
