Joe Docherty Jr. Respecting the Past. Transparent About the Future.
Rose Gibson I believe my knowledge of the current Council work, and willingness to move forward, ensuring already projects will continue; focusing on a balance budget while meeting scheduled timelines. I’m very passionate for our community by giving of my time to many organizations as, Executive or Board Member, for St. Thomas Legion and local Library, and organizer of events. Serving on City

Vote Joe Docherty – Respecting the Past. Transparent About the Future. Municipal leadership handles the “boots on the ground” strategies that protect our quality of life. Joe is committed to smart infill housing that respects existing neighbourhoods, ensuring emergency services scale with population growth, and tackling healthcare needs by recruiting family physicians, expanding mental health support, and advocating for modern medical infrastructure. People-Centered Progress As industrial growth strengthens our local economy, those benefits must flow directly to residents. Major corporate developments must contribute to our parks, roads, and community spaces. By managing this expanded tax base responsibly, Joe will work to keep municipal costs affordable for long-term residents and fixed-income households. St. Thomas is on an exciting path forward, adding over 1,000 new residents each year. Joe wants to stick to this positive trajectory— ensuring our momentum continues while keeping our city’s unique identity, heritage, and long-term residents at the center of every Council decision. Transparent Growth & Heritage Preservation Growth should complement our history, not erase it. Joe will keep us on track by protecting heritage districts and historic landmarks, maintaining open-door governance with mandatory public consultations, and providing clear Council updates before major zoning decisions are finalized. Council is a natural extension of this service—an avenue where my skills and experience can deliver meaningful results for our community. My main issues matter most are; Multi Housing balance in the community although council has started this initiative, I do believe we can do more especially in the area of infill, and affordable housing. Long term planning for expansion for Valley View Home, as we face more of the population demand for places not only for seniors but for people who are facing life changing situations, and space for day programs. Transit Service changes are needed to meet the new influx of housing projects, industry, and growing population. We need to figure out what we can do to minimize car dependence and have neighbourhoods walk-able with transit connections, upgrade the networking system, and implement a single, contactless payment system.
