Hometown St.Thomas October 2026

Heather Jackson St. Thomas is my home. I was born and raised here, and I care deeply about its future. I was proud to be elected to St. Thomas City Council in 2003 and re-elected in 2006, and honoured to serve two terms as mayor from 2010 to 2018. Since then, my work in the non-profit sector has strengthened my experience in governance, budgeting, long- term planning, infrastructure, staff leadership and working with

Malichi Male My name is Malichi Male, and I am running for City Council be- cause I believe St. Thomas de- serves leadership that listens to residents, respects taxpayers, and puts our community first. My platform focuses on respon- sible municipal spending and eli- minating unnecessary expenses,

with the goal of working toward lower property taxes. Taxpay- ers deserve transparency and should know how their money is being spent. I will advocate for accessible mental-health facilities and services for adults, with special attention to teenagers facing the growing challenges of today’s world. Our youth deserve safe places to find support, guidance, and resources. Every piece of legislation and every major decision should reflect the voices and interests of St. Thomas residents—not simply the preferences of elected officials. Residents deserve a meaningful role in decisions that affect their lives. Revitalizing and cleaning up downtown St. Thomas will also be a priority. I want to help create a clean, welcoming, and safe environment while supporting initiatives and events that attract visitors, increase local spending, and create new opportunities for small businesses. Most importantly, I will remain accessible and accountable. Residents should be able to reach their councillor directly and know their concerns will be heard and represented at Council meetings.

municipal partners. I know what responsible leadership requires: listening carefully, treating people with respect and making practical decisions that serve the whole community. As St. Thomas continues to grow, we need leadership that will manage change responsibly, keep infrastructure, roads, parks and recreation facilities moving forward, and always consider the impact on taxpayers today and in the future. We must protect what makes our city special: strong neighbourhoods, a vibrant downtown, local businesses, accessible community spaces and a welcoming, caring spirit. I am running to bring experience, compassion and commitment back to the council table. Together, we can set high standards, make decisions that stand the test of time and leave St. Thomas stronger than we found it.
