Kyle Yates I’ve called St. Thomas home for all 28 years of my life. I’m a CNC machinist by trade and study Political Science and Urban Development at Western University. Public service has always been part of my family: my father served as Staff Sergeant with the St. Thomas Police Service, and my mother works in healthcare. My manufacturing background has taught me practical problem-solving and hard work, while my studies have strengthened my interest in how cities grow. The biggest issues in this election are affordability, responsible growth, and quality of life. St. Thomas is growing, and we need to ensure that growth benefits the people who live here. I support more attainable and affordable housing options, including smaller homes for first-time buyers and seniors looking to downsize, townhomes, and co-ops, while making better use of vacant properties. I want to expand recreation through summer ice at Memorial Arena, Play Streets, and better-connected parks and trails; improve transit; support businesses; and protect our heritage through projects like a central railway heritage park. I also believe we should be selective about the industries we attract, including restricting AI data centres that could strain local infrastructure while creating relatively few permanent jobs. Above all, I want growth to strengthen St. Thomas while preserving what makes our community special.
Steve Wookie Re-Elect Steve Wookey, for St. Thomas City Council I am still passionate about serving the city I love and belong to. I am guided by certain beliefs: 1. Every person has the capacity for growth and change, and it is Coun- cil’s job to provide the programs and infrastructure to support that.
2. Meeting people where they are at, not where you want them to be, is not only respectful, it the root of positive relationships. 3. Being active helps peoples mental, physical, and emotional health, whatever ‘active’ means to you and wherever you choose to be active. I profoundly care about this. 4. Being willing to change your mind in the face of new evidence is not a weakness; it is wisdom. Council has been so good about this over the past term. We have worked together with humility and purpose. 5. Spend every tax dollar like it is your money means getting the best value for the dollar. I sincerely ask for your support, and if willing, a lawn sign location or a kind word to your neighbour about me. The city has come a long way in the last decade, and I am proud to be part of that journey. We have a good thing going and the rest of Canada sees it.
