When it comes to building your business, it’s important to do everything with a purpose. Just as you’ve found your “why” for building your business, find your “why” for explaining the Backup Order. For many Marketing Executives, they carefully craft how they explain the Backup Order because they understand how it affects reorder rate, retention rates, and sustained residual income. To build a strong business, you need new Preferred Members to reorder Melaleuca products each month. As a leader in e-commerce wellness shopping, Melaleuca helps Preferred Members choose safer, better products and have them shipped right to their doors. While Backup Orders help Preferred Members receive their favorite products when they forget to shop, if they consistently get a Backup Order they may get the same products over and over again instead of trying a variety of things until they find products they can’t live without. Establishing monthly shopping habits within your team sustains high reorder rates. Preferred Members are exposed to extra savings and promotions each month, further enticing them to shop. The Power of Monthly Shopping

The more your Preferred Members stay with Melaleuca for the long term, the larger residual income you will earn. Whether your new Preferred Members go on to build their own businesses or not, their monthly shopping helps sustain your residual income. Following these Backup Order Basics, will help you build a business to last a lifetime!

They will stay up to date on all the newest permanent and limited-edition products. Best of all, shopping monthly means Preferred Members earn Loyalty Shopping Dollars—and brand-new members earn $100 to spend. Any time a Preferred Member receives a Backup Order, they miss an opportunity to take advantage of those benefits. The more products a new customer chooses to bring into their home, the more likely they are to shop with Melaleuca for a lifetime. This means that reorder rates feed directly into retention rates. According to Harvard Business Review, it’s six to seven times more expensive to gain a new customer than it is to retain an existing customer. While it doesn’t cost much money to start your Melaleuca business, it does demand your most valuable resource—time. Imagine if it took you six or seven times longer to build your Melaleuca business to where you want it? Use your time wisely by explaining the Backup Order properly in the beginning so you don’t lose a Preferred Member over a surprise Backup Order.

Executive Director Jenny Poet

“ Regular contact is needed for the first 3 months to establish new shopping habits. As a shopping coach sometimes I make suggestions as some customers don’t consider the smaller daily use items like toothbrushes, toilet sprays, coffee, mints, lip balm, mascara, deodorant, toilet cleaner, soap on tap, dishwasher pods, and gifts. Every one of our products is specially formulated and we need to explain to our customers how and why they would use them, the savings, benefits, hints and tips. The more products that customers use across the Melaleuca range, the easier it is to shop for 35 points or more each and every month. Exceptional Customer Service from the very beginning creates happy long term customers and residual income for you."

“The Backup Order is my favorite benefit of being a Melaleuca customer! We get to put on file a customised list of products that we need on a monthly basis. This is not an auto-ship program; it is designed for emergency use only. So if we ever had an emergency big enough to cause us to forget to shop, Melaleuca will send us the items that we need in our homes just to function. I have been shopping here since September of 2005. Thank goodness I have not had an emergency big enough to cause me to forget to shop, but I am so thankful that this is in place just in case! And I really wish my local grocery store would do something similar!”
