By the time you read this we will be well into summer and getting closer to Institute week. The Board and Institute Committee met in Nashville in mid-June to finalize all the preparations for Institute and to get everyone acclimated to the meeting space. Several ventured out into Nashville to check out some of the recommended restaurants and attractions. Nashville is such a fun city! We decided to do the Wednesday Welcome as a “Grab and Go see Nashville” event. So many times we go to these awesome cities and there isn’t much time to check them out! The Gaylord Opryland offers a shuttle to downtown and a shuttle to the Opry Mills Mall. Uber and Lyft are also available and the rates are very reasonable. I highly recommend you take advantage of the opportunity to see some of Nashville on Wednesday! Be sure and stop by the Information desk to check with Jennifer Kegans and Terri McDearman for maps and brochures. Our Program Committee, chaired by Stephanie Moore and Yolanda Bazan, have worked hard to provide some very interesting educational classes for our attendees. They also revamped our class schedule sheet and not only made it easier to read, but added a map to it as well! Great job Ladies! Don’t forget, you can attend the Wednesday workshops AT NO ADDITIONAL COST if you choose to. That’s THREE days of education for one price! I hope everyone will be ready to have a great time at Blake Shelton’s “Ole Red” in downtown Nashville. Ole Red just opened in May and it is beautiful! I have heard rave reviews about the place, the food and the entertainment! The Hospitality Committee Chairs, Lisa Buffaloe and Kacie Bevers, have assured me that all will have a fun time at this party!! Buses will take us there and will return at scheduled times. Ole Red is on Broadway so if you decide to check out the music you can always Uber or Lyft back to the hotel. Not a country music fan? Music City USA has ALL types of music!! I hope you are planning on joining us in Nashville as we celebrate the 45th Anniversary of NADOA. We’ve gotten great room rates, inexpensive airfare can be found on all carriers (check on Tuesdays!) and we’ve got a great Institute price! Don’t miss out on this GRAND OLE OPPORTUNITY to further your education, catch up with industry friends and visit the hottest destination for conventions and vacation: NASHVILLE!

See you in September!!!

Cheryl Hampton

NASHVILLE BOUND 45TH ANNUAL INSTITUTE GAYLORD OPRYLAND RESORT & HOTEL

Norma Dooley Hotel Chair

As they say on the streets of Nashville, “Hello Darlin” and welcome to Music City. Welcome to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, just a short 10 miles from the airport by shuttle, taxi, Uber or car. (see Transportation information) When pulling into the hotel’s drive you are greeted by the friendly staff welcoming you to town. You’ll walk through the doors and your first vision will be of the Grand Lobby with the sound of the waterfalls flowing in the Cascade area. You will notice registration desks on both sides of the lobby to accommodate large groups, or should you arrive by the airport shuttle the hotel has to offer, you may arrive in the new Magnolia Lobby. No matter where you enter you will be AMAZED by the over abundance of shops, restaurants and many extras the hotel has to offer. Don’t close your eyes so you can take it all in. If you have been to a Gaylord hotel, you know what to expect and if not, make note this is a very large resort hotel (see map on page 30). Make sure you pack some comfortable walking shoes for the good times ahead. If you are not a big walker or have any kind of health issues, when making your reservations be sure to put in the “COMMENTS” that you want a room close to the Governor’s section of the conference area. The rooms are nice and big and include an empty mini fridge, iron, ironing board, hair dryer and a robe or something like that. You will receive a map like the one here at check-in, so just breathe and go out on the adventure of learning your way around. You’ll have plenty of sights to see but don’t go crazy or fall to pieces if you feel lost; it will get easier as you go. And don’t be surprised if you run into Dolly, Kenny or a true country classic, just remember to act naturally.

To fill that empty fridge, you can go to the new Marketplace that just opened in the Delta area to shop for goodies. There is a walking path you can take over to Opry Mills Mall or use the free shuttle service. If you rent a car, there are plenty of places to explore close by. When packing for Nashville, remember it will be the heart of summer so it will be very warm outside but as you know, the conference rooms can be quite COOL . Those of you who have been coming to Institute for many years know that once we get behind closed doors we have no control on the thermostat. So, when the person beside you in class says “Is it cold in here” that means, don’t forget your sweater . If you want to enjoy some of the amenities of the hotel, they have a great fitness center, you can do laps in the indoor pool, soak up the sun by one of the many outdoor pools or enjoy a relaxing massage in the Relache Spa. Time to get your reservations made for the 45th Annual Institute in Nashville from September 5 to 7 by going to the LINK on the NADOA website.
