 Under the Guidance of the Director of Operations, lead the schools sustainability strategy as it relates to Estates, working closely with the school community to ensure this is championed through the school

 Work with the Director of Operations to develop an energy replacement programme.

Major capital development programmes (the Building Plan / Masterplan)
5

 Work with the Director of Operations and Deputy Head to plan major development programmes, advising on matters of logistics, buildability, proposed programme and impact to existing school plant and building stock.
5

 Scrutinise proposed designs and provide site expertise, feeding back to the design team as required.
5

 Ensure that long term maintenance requirements are incorporated into the plans.
5

 Work with the Director of Operations and senior management team to prepare decant plans, advising on space planning and project manage internal moves ensuring that all impacted stakeholders are engaged with the process.

 Work with the Director of Operations and appointed project managers to ensure that site logistics are in place to minimise disruption during the build phase, and that agreed working arrangements are maintained throughout the project duration
5

 Oversee contractors during the build phase ensuring that site procedures are followed including health and safety requirements.
5

 Ensure that procedures are in place to undertake vetting checks and clearances are in order for contractors on site in line with regulatory guidance.
5

 Manage the handover of buildings from contractor to school, including commissioning, snagging and logistics of moves.

 Line manage the site team, conducting appraisals and addressing performance management issues as necessary; recruit and train staff as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential
7

 Significant experience of estate management.
7

 Experience of managing capital works from start to finish.
7

 A sound knowledge of health and safety regulations as they relate to premises and buildings.
7

 Experience of managing a team including managing the performance of others.
7

 Experience of managing budgets and of monitoring invoices from a multitude of external contractors.
7

 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal with a variety of people at all levels in a courteous and professional manner – a ‘can-do’ attitude.
7

 Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to work autonomously to resolve issues.
7

 Time management skills and experience of managing a varied workload with the minimum of supervision and direction.
7

 Good working knowledge of MS Office packages.
7

 Basic knowledge of CAD.
7

 A degree or equivalent qualification in estates management or related discipline.
7

 IOSH or NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent health and safety qualification).
7

 Experience of working in the education sector.
