The research consists of the following five chapters: the methodological framework, the variables affecting media coverage of Arab issues, the results of the comparative field study on both the Egyptian and Qatari elites, the results of the comparative field study on those in charge of communication in both Al Jazeera and Nile TV, and the discussion of the research findings. The main findings showed that the most important news channels on which the Egyptian and Qatari elites rely are, in terms of preference: Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, Nile News, BBC, CNN, Al Hurrah and EuroNews. The findings also showed that Nile News failed to establish itself as a channel for the Arab elite in general and specifically outside of Egypt. 75.7% of the Qatari and Egyptian elites indicated that Al Jazeera contributes to changing public opinion on current events. The results confirmed the superiority of Al Jazeera in equipping its journalists with the necessary information and training them on communication technologies.
