Tournament Entry/ Standard Rule of Priority

Entry into all ANCC Club Golf Tournaments is governed by the following order of priority unless specifically modified and published for an event. a. Members may enter events more than 10 days in advance of the first round of a tournament. b. Spouses may enter events, either individually or as part of a team, if the field limit has not been reached 10 days in advance of the first round of a tournament. In this event, participation by a Spouse will not be limited or restricted based on the time or day of the scheduled round(s). For a complete set of the ANCC club rules, please click here .

Are your clubs ready for the Golf Season? When was the last time you had your clubs re-gripped? Eighteen months is the absolute maximum you should wait to change your grips because slick or worn grips can have a negative impact on your game, like driving on worn tires. Maintaining proper grip pressure is essential in making a smooth swing, but worn grips require tighter grip pressure which inhibits the swing. Worn grips are especially slippery in wet conditions. Flighted Match Play Tournament - June through August The 2016 Flighted Match Play Tournament is an individual match play event. All eligible players will be placed in flights of 8 based on their June 1, 2016 handicap index. All flights will play off the low handicap of the pairing. There will be a men’s and women’s division. Click here for complete details and to sign-up beginning Sunday, 1 May. ANCC Match Play Club Championship The 2016 ANCC Match Play Club Championship is the tournament that matches your golf skills one-on-one with each of your fellow competitors. This championship will include both a Men’s and Women’s Division for the championship ONLY (Flighted Match Play Championship will begin in June). Click here complete details and to sign-up beginning Thursday, 21 April.

Degradation is gradual, so you may not even realize how worn they’ve gotten. Stop in either Golf Shop for more information or to have a Pro look at your grips.

Golf Course Reminders As spring slowly creeps out of the long cold winter, golf season is getting into full swing. As we get started this season, our Arlington and Fairfax golf staff have a few reminders: • The no mow areas on the golf course are by design. They are not marked as hazards so any ball that enters a no mow area and is not found is a Lost Ball. While playing your round, if you stroke a ball into the no mow areas, please play a Provisional Ball to help with play pace. • Though the grass in the no mow areas is shorter during the spring, it is not intended for golf cart traffic. You may enter now mow areas in search of a ball, but please DO NOT drive golf carts into these areas. • Please observe the golf cart rules for the day. Every effort will be made to maintain the 90º cart rule as often as possible. However, when carts are restricted to paths, please keep all wheels on the paths. • The new fairways at Arlington are Patriot Bermuda grass. When taking a divot please fill the divot with sand. There is no need to replace the divot as it will die. In a few days, the grass will fill-in. • Please be sure to repair your ball marks on the green as a couple others at the same time. A properly repaired ball mark will keep our greens looking spectacular all season. WMGA - Senior Men’s ‘A’ Team The 2016 Washington Metropolitan Golf Association Senior ‘A’ Team competition matches will begin in April and continue into the first part of May for playoffs as needed. For more information, click here or contact team co-captains, Bill Engel at bengel1002@aol.com or Peter Jacobi at petergeezergolf@comcast.net .
