cannot be moved, and that they are therefore worth fighting for? They are our precious heritage; let us hold them fast. We have the sure Word of God. Will you not take this as your guide? We have a Divine Lord, Will you not take Him as your Lord? We have one who was “the payment of our sins.” Will you not accept the payment, the Atone ment, and let Him be your Saviour? Will you not build upon the “only foundation which can be laid, which is Christ Jesus”? He is the true Fundamentalist who plants His faith on the Rock, the Christ revealed in the Old Testa ment, in the Gospels and in the Epistles.' He shall not be moved! He shall stand with Christ forever! A14. _ * * Jesus Christ: Son of God —Servant of Jehovah “For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon Hi* shoulder, arid His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Almighty God ( Heb .) , the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be wo end, upon the throne of David and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice, from henceforth, even forever (Isa. 9 : 6 - 8 ). JO more wonderful statement or description of the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Living Odd could be given. The words were spoken by the Holy Ghost to the. prophet Isaiah more than seven hundred years before the coming of our Lord. They apply, as the whole trend of Scripture shows, to the Holy One of God, nor could they have been evolved or produced by the unaided brain or Intelligence of the great prophet. They oypy with them the conclusive proof of divine in spiration ana* of Isaiah being simply the amanuensis of the Holy Ghost. The words from their very nature are of and from the Living God. It is worthy of the profoundest thought that when the angel Gabriel was sent to the Virgin Mary he identified this very passage as belonging to and showing forth the purpose of God in relation to the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 1:31-33). Whilst these words stand, the truth of the proper Deity of the Son of God can never be called in ques tion. Gabriel said, “And behold, thou shalt conceivo in thy womb, and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus; He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and, the Lord shall give unto Him the throne of His father David, and He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.” All the dificult utterances and subjective actions of the Lord Jesus, which show, as in the passage quoted, depend ence upon and acquiescence in the will of God, are to be understood In the light of His relation as the Son of Man and the Servant of Jehovah. These all pertained to the time of His earthly life, and belong expressly to His rep resentative relation as the obedient Son of Man. How could He, as such, occupy any other relaliot^ than that of perfect acquiescence with the Father? To argue from this perfection of character in His manhood, that He was in ferior to the Holy Father, is to deny the truth of His Word: “He that will be greatest among you, let him be servant of all.” The Lord Jesus Christ is greatest of all, for the fundamental reason that He has been and is both Lord of all and Servant of all.
