Red Cross: My day started with a workshop from a nurse at the Red Cross. We learnt about how important it is to be confident in giving medical assistance. You
don’t have to do anything complicated; even simple
actions, like rolling someone onto their side, can be life- saving. Turns out, most people refrain from giving others medical attention in public spaces because they don’t want to be embarrassed! First Aid: Next, we had first aid with our school nurse, Natasha. We learnt about anaphylaxis, asthma, and epilepsy, and how to treat it. Every school in the UK is now required to educate students and staff about allergic reactions due to Benedict's Law, which was passed in Feb 2026.
Self-Defense: This workshop took up two sessions, but it was worth every minute. The self defense workshop was run by a charity called ‘Action Breaks Silence’. Their goal is to ‘build a world free from all forms of discrimination, free of violence against women and girls’.
