As She Prepares for Law School SHEBA REFLECTS ON 3 YEARS WITH THE FIRM
Next month, we’re celebrating an exciting next step for our team member. For the past three years, Sheba has been part of our legal team, starting with us in 2015 as a legal intern, and then moving into a role as our legal assistant. This August, Sheba will be making the next move in her legal career as she heads to law school. Sheba has known that she wanted to pursue a career in law since she was 13. She has no qualms about the challenging years of study that lay ahead, but she wants to learn more about the personal injury field and “see behind all the glamour.” Sheba says, “I wanted to make sure I was signing up for what I thought I wanted.” After interning with the Button Law Firm, she knew she’d found her niche. “In the past three years, I was reminded every day that this is exactly what I want to be doing.” Sheba’s passion for the law and helping the underrepresented are her driving forces that she cultivated while working for clients at the Button Law Firm. “These clients are amazing, phenomenal people who’ve been wronged. They’re the clients I could see myself waking up and fighting for,” says Sheba. She believes having a passion for people is necessary to be a good lawyer. “You have to be. It’s necessary in this field. If you’re not passionate, you’re not going to put your all into it,” says Sheba. “That’s why we have this team of equally passionate people. We put 100 percent into everything.”
While working for the Button Law Firm, Sheba was also pursuing her MBA — a challenging undertaking that exemplifies her determined spirit. She attributes her success in both endeavors to our fearless leader, attorney Russell Button. “Without a doubt, I would not have been
able to do it had Russell not been so understanding of my schedule and study needs. I’m grateful to the firm.” When Sheba shared her aspirations with Russell, she said, “He was 100 percent on board, and did everything he could to help me get through it.” The supportive environment is a quality Sheba speaks highly of. “The other employees at the firm were 100 percent supportive in everything we did together to figure out tasks, timing, and meetings. It speaks to the environment we’re dealing with — firm cohesiveness. I can’t imagine finding that support anywhere else.”
We will miss Sheba, but we are so excited to watch her make her goals happen in law school. Best of luck, Sheba!
