Second lecture date set for Sara Lauzon Following the success of her initial lec- ture regarding Cornwall’s history, the woman known locally as the ‘‘Little His- torian’’ will be hosting her second pre- sentation on August 3. Starting with a 30-minute meet and greet, the University of Ottawa student will then present Tales from the grave: Stories of citizens buried in Trinity cemetery . The local history buff has expressed several times her deep rooted love for everything Cornwall, including its many cemeteries. The lecture will also be made up of a comparison picture presen- tation, which will look at the many majes- tic buildings that have either withstood the test of time or have vanished forever. A 39 year old Cornwall male was arrested on July 1. He is bound by a Probation Order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on June 28 he engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend, which escalated into throwing a thermos at her and punching her in the back of the head. Criminal harrassment A 30 year old Cornwall man was arrested on July 2. He is bound by a Probation Order and a Recognizance Order with the relevant conditions to not have contact with the two wom- en involved in this incident, and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that between June 30 and July 1, the man contacted his estranged common-law girlfriend in excess of 60 times by phone and by text message. He was attempting to prevent her from testifying against him in another criminal court matter. He also contacted the other woman that he is not supposed to, in excess of 40 times by phone. Sexual Assault Michael McCoy, age 53, of Cornwall, was arrested on July 2. It is alleged that on this date he attended the residence of a woman who is known to him. They had a conversation. At one point the woman was distracted for a moment and he grabbed her breast without consent. Threats James MacFarlane, age 29, of Cornwall, was arrested on July 3. He is bound by two Proba- tion Orders with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on this date he threatened to kill a Cornwall woman after she told him to get out of her neighbour’s back yard.

With temperatures rising and another school year drawing to a close, the City’s out- door pools are now ready for another summer season. The pools in St. Francis de Sales, Terry Fox, St. Joseph and Mattice Parks are now opened on Saturdays and Sundays for public swims, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The pool at Reg Campbell Park is not ready to open to the public as repairs are being completed to the structure. Beginning on June 30, the outdoor pools will be opened for swimming lessons, free afternoon public swims and evening swims.
