Les Couguars de L’Escale ont remporté le championnat de l’OFSAA encore cette année. C’est la première fois qu’une équipe gagne le tournoi deux années consécutives. L’équipe de hockey féminin, les Couguars de l’École secondaire catholique L’Escale, a gagné la médaille d’or au championnat de l’OFSAA la semaine dernière. Le tournoi s’est déroulé du mercredi 21 mars au ven- dredi 23 mars à Timmins. Il s’agit de la première équipe à être couronnée championne provinciale deux années de suite. L’équipe a connu une saison parfaite, sans défaite, et a égale- ment remporté le tournoi de l’EOSSAA, qui

Julia Bolduc à marqué le but gagnant, et son deuxième de la partie, après 14 secondes de jeu dans la période. Les Couguars se sont retrouvées en finale après avoir battu les Celtics de St. David Catholic Secondary School de Waterloo en demi-finales. Le tournoi de l’OFSAA s’est déroulé pen- dant trois jours à Timmins. Pas moins de 14 équipes, venues de partout à travers la province, ont joué dans trois arénas de la région : Archie Dillon Sportsplex, McIntyre Arena et Carlto Cattarello Arena.

The girls’ hockey team, the Couguars of L’École secondaire catholique L’Escale, made history last week, after winning the OFSAA Girls A/AA Hockey Championship in Timmins, from March 21 to 23. They are the first team to be crowned provincial champions two years in a row. The team has had a perfect undefeated season and also won the EOSSAA tournament that was held at the beginning of March. What made the Devils’ win even more special was that the team dedicated its Championship to teammate Emma Flynn- Mantyla. Flynn-Mantyla was diagnosed with Leukemia over a month ago. She had to start chemo treatments immediately and was not able to participate in the provincial championships. Flynn-Mantyla will not be participating in the Eastern Canadian Championship. Her teammates, including her younger sister Tia, will be playing for her next month. A GoFundMe page has also been created for Emma and her family and it has already raised over $ 12 000. The Gloucester Cumberland U14 Devils Ringette team has dedicated its Ontario Provincial Championship title to a team- mate fighting Leukemia. The U14 AA Ringette Provincial Cham- pionships were held from Thursday, March 8 to Sunday, March 11, in Ottawa. The Devils will soon be heading to Halifax next month to represent Ontario at the Eastern Canadian Championships. Some of the girls on the team made their debut in the sport in Rockland, namely Katrine Gagnier. Gagnier used to play for the Clarence-Rockland Falcons.
