Operation Kidsafe serves Cornwall  gŏđŏ

CORNWALL | Everyday, more than 2000 children go missing in North America. According to Operation Kidsafe founder, Mark Bott, 80% of those abductions are from individuals they are familiar with. Bott, along with over 20 children, was present at the Cornwall Honda dealership on June 4 tomark the official launch of the program, which will serve the Cornwall community for a one-year mandate. Elaine MacDonald, acting mayor, was also at the event representing the mayor who, despite prior engagements, managed to make an appearance to the delight of the children, who asked to be photographed with him. “I’m really happy that Mr. Bott brought this program to Cornwall,”said MacDonald. “The children in our community will be safer.” The program is present throughout Canada, the United States as well as Puerto Rico. “It’s totally free, it’s totally private,” said Bott. 8th annual Clean Air Day

Cornwall Transit’s eighth annual Clean Air Day promotion was a huge success, with thousands of residents taking advantage of the day-long offer of free rides, on June 4. The City-run transit service recorded 6,472 passenger boardings throughout the day, making it the most successful Clean Air Day event yet. “We are thrilled with the response,”said transit divisionmanager LenTapp.“Passengers have been contacting our office to express their appreciation for the free rides and great service.” Pictured is Len Tapp, transit passenger Andrew Davies and Mayor Bob Kilger. Davies was one of several riders who received a prize throughout the day from ‘mystery riders’ aboard the buses.
