Une saison des plus positives pour les Kodiaks

Les Kodiaks de l’École secondaire catho- lique de Hawkesbury ont connu une sai- son fort positive au cours de la 7 e saison de la Ligue de football (nivau senior) du Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien. Il ne faut pas cependant se fier à la fiche des Kodiaks qui est d’une victoire et deux défaites. D’abord, deux des défaites l’ont été par une faiblemarge d’un point contre Gar- neau (1-0) et deux points contre Rockland. « Dans la défaite de 1-0, les deux équipes se sont retrouvées à deux reprises à cinq verges des buts…sans avoir pu marquer », a relaté Daniel Villeneuve, entraîneur-chef des Kodiaks. Ce dernier est très satisfait de la saison de ses joueurs, de leur cheminement. « Nous avons essayé de nouveaux jeux avec les jeunes, mais en deuxmois, c’était nettement insuffisant. Nous avions un bon groupe de joueurs cette année et des joueurs de 9 e et 10 e année se sont taillé un poste avec l’équipe. Il ne faut pas oublier que nous avons perdu pas moins de 15 joueurs de l’année dernière. Nous avions donc plusieurs joueurs avec peu ou pas d’expérience au sein de l’équipe », a expliqué M. Villeneuve. Belle surprise Au cours de la saison, les Kodiaks ont eu droit à une belle surprise. « Nous avons eu la chance de recevoir la visite de trois joueurs du Rouge et Noir d’Ottawa, Jason Lauzon- Séguin qui vient de Hawkesbury, Antonio Pruneau et Jean-Philippe Bolduc, dont la mère est une Tousignant de Hawkesbury. Ils ont pu nous donner des conseils et des trucs tant au niveau de la défensive que de l’offensive, des stratégies pour bloquer et passer », nous a dit Daniel Villeneuve. The Cougars host the Rockland Nationals Nov. 5, then go on the road the next weekend for a rematch Nov. 11 with the Embrun Panthers, and a showdown with the Cumberland Bandits the following Saturday.
