Dear STE Community,

Thank you for all you did to make my first year at STE such a wonderful one! My family and I have been warmly welcomed into the life of the school. All five of our children are thriving here, and my wife, Anne, has been blessed to serve alongside many of you through Moms in Prayer and several volunteer committees.

This year has been one of listening, learning, and relationship-building. I have spent time in classrooms, at school events, and in conversation with students, faculty, parents, alumni, trustees, and friends. Together, we have clarified our priorities and adopted a Strategic Plan that provides a clear and ambitious roadmap for the future of STE as one of the preeminent schools in Texas. None of this progress would be possible without the generosity of our donors, especially the members of the Tartan Society. Thank you! Every gift has an immediate impact on the daily experience of our students, but your support is doing something even greater: it is helping move STE forward according to a shared vision for the future. In the coming year, we will be especially focused on three priorities: Further strengthening our faithfulness to our mission as a Christian, classical school with high academic standards and an elevated culture grounded in our core virtues. Investing in our faculty through the addition of new teaching positions and expanded academic and enrichment opportunities. Laying the groundwork for the major capital improvements and fundraising objectives envisioned in our Strategic Plan. Your support today is more important than ever. It not only benefits current students but also demonstrates to future donors and partners that STE is united, growing, and ready for the next chapter. Together, we are building something that will bless generations of students to come. Seraphim Danckaert Headmaster Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School

Dear STE Community, The Board of Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School has been reflecting over the past few years on the strengths and challenges of our school, and how we can leverage the former and address the latter in order to succeed in our mission of “creating honorable men and women through a classical education grounded in a Christ-centered worldview”, in our highly competitive Houston marketplace. We have concluded that our position as a classical, Christian school with strong academics and world-class extracurriculars makes us unique in our marketplace, and the best possible choice for families seeking to educate their children in a way consistent with our mission.

With this conclusion in hand, we set out two years ago to find a visionary Headmaster to lead us in achieving our mission; we believe that we have found him in Headmaster Seraphim Danckaert, who joined us last summer. Over the past year, the Board, working closely with Mr. Danckaert, has developed a strategic five-year plan, meant to position us as a leading Christian classical school in the nation, with strong academics, outstanding extracurriculars, excellent facilities, robust finances and a classical Christian understanding of how our education will form our students. In the process of drafting this plan, we consulted with parents, donors, students, faculty and staff, alumni and our mission partners in Saint Thomas’ Episcopal Church. This rigorous process, assisted by nationally recognized consultants, culminated in an offsite meeting of the entire Board to prioritize and formulate our plan. The details of the plan can be accessed by scanning the QR code below. The Board’s focus now is on executing this plan in partnership with Mr. Danckaert and the school administration. Plans must be executed well to succeed. That is a big job for us, but one for which we have passion, energy and focus. We look forward to working with the whole community as we raise Saint Thomas’ to the next level.

Our inaugural Middle School Winter Wonderland Dance brought students together for an evening of dancing, games, photos, and fun. Students also supported the Christian Community Service Center by donating cold-weather clothing, earning House points while giving back.

Upper School students brought the energy and style to this year's Miami Vice-themed Winter Formal ! From vibrant colors and great music to a packed dance floor, it was an unforgettable evening of fun, friendship, and celebration.

Our annual Spelling Bee was a huge success! Students impressed us with their incredible spelling skills as they tackled word after word. Congratulations to the winners: Adrian F. and Aarav P..

Townsend G. ‘24, Ethan A. ‘25, Elsie W. ‘25, Savannah H. ‘24, and Elisa S. ‘24 returned to campus for an Alumni Panel to share their experiences and advice with our Upper School students as they prepare for the transition to college.

Lower School’s 100th Day of School T-Shirt Contest was full of creativity and school spirit! 🎉 Congratulations to our winners from each grade level, and thank you to all the students who helped us celebrate 100 days of learning in style.

Lower School hosted their annual Cursive Handwriting Contest and the winners were recognized during Chapel for their excellent penmanship and attention to detail.

National Merit Semifinalists, Ethan L. and Zohaib R. were recognized during Chapel for their outstanding academic achievement, as well as National Merit Commended Students, Mihir Z. , Ashwin N. , Runo M. , and Ethan W.

During the Cum Laude Society induction ceremony, inductees were presented with certificates, pins, and a copy of the pledge, marking this important academic distinction.

Mrs. Sun’s Chinese language students represented STE at the 31st Houston Area Chinese Speech Contest. Ashwin N. earned 1st place, Darien H. took 2nd, and Felicity R. placed 5th.

We proudly inducted the inaugural class of STE’s National Junior Honor Society ! These outstanding students exemplify scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship, setting a strong foundation for future members of our NJHS chapter.

Our 3rd Annual STEAM Fest was packed with action— catapults flying, drones buzzing, slide races, robotics, and hands-on creations everywhere. A day full of curiosity, creativity, and fun!

JCL students competed at the Texas State Junior Classical League Convention in San Antonio, joining over 1,100 Latin and Greek students from across Texas. STE Middle School placed 5th and Upper School earned 2nd in the Gold Division Sweepstakes, with Houston Area JCL winning the Area Cup!

All students who were accepted to STE for the upcoming year were invited to the New Student & Family Mixer where they enjoyed refreshments, a photobooth, and had the opportunity to meet faculty members and fellow students!

SOUNDS OF SCOTLAND

Sounds of Scotland is STE’s annual showcase of Scottish music and dance. Featuring more than 200 student performers, this one-night-only production brings together world- renowned bagpipers, drummers, and Highland dancers for an unforgettable celebration of our Scottish heritage on one of Houston’s premier stages.

Congratulations to Alex P. on winning the Nicol-Brown Invitational, the third STE student to win this prestigious contest. The Nicol-Brown invites the top-ten most successful Canadian and American Grade 1 competitors of the past year.

We welcomed the International Highland Dance Company to STE as students received Highland Dance instruction from master teachers from Scotland, representing the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo .

Andrew Z. won the prestigious MacCrimmon Quaich at the Stone Mountain Highland Games in Georgia, a remarkable achievement in competitive bagpiping.

STE Pipe Band was honored to perform at Wreaths Across America , helping lead a meaningful ceremony to remember and honor those who served. Their music added a powerful sense of tradition and reverence to this special community tribute.

Jane T., Emily L., Alice E., Avery S., and Mira V. qualified to compete in the U.S. Highland Dancing Championships this summer.

Lower School students brought the world of Dr. Seuss to life with their production of Seussical the Musical!

STE Theatre’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream showcased incredible dedication, creativity, and collaboration in bringing this Shakespearean classic to life. We are so proud of our students for their outstanding performance and artistry on stage.

We hosted a beautiful performance of Benjamin Britten’s Saint Nicolas , bringing together STE parish and school choirs with an orchestra of professional musicians and STE students.

Many students entered the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo School Art Contest and advanced to the second round of judging. Every participating student earned the prestigious “Award of Excellence” and their pieces were proudly displayed in the Lobby.

Our Orchestra Program hit all the right notes this year as we welcomed new orchestra teacher Mr. Daniel Verner and enjoyed both Christmas and Spring concerts that showcased the growth and talent of our student musicians.

Coffee with the Headmaster provided a welcoming space for parents to connect with Mr. Danckaert throughout the year. Each month featured a different topic, fostering meaningful conversations, sharing insights, and strengthening our school community.

Our February Heart of STE: Fun Friday Family Night was filled with laughter, music, and sweet treats as families gathered for a fun evening of karaoke and s’mores. It was a wonderful opportunity to make memories and celebrate community together!

Mr. Danckaert hosted monthly student lunches to hear directly about their experiences at school. These conversations provided valuable insight into student life while strengthening relationships and giving students a meaningful voice in the community.

Impact Days gave donors, grandparents, and friends of Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School a closer look at the STE experience through presentations on our mission, academics, student achievements, athletics, and fine arts.

Our April Heart of STE: Fun Friday Family Night brought families together for a friendly Chess Tournament and Game Night. It was a wonderful evening of strategy and community!

STE Pom Team brought the school spirit to life at our pep rallies this year, rallying students and faculty together in support of our Saints!

The Upper School Awards Ceremony celebrated students' hard work and achievements throughout the year. Awards recognized excellence across academics, organizations, and extracurricular activities.

Latin students explored a groundbreaking Ancient Rome exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.

Middle School Golf celebrated its most successful season to date, highlighted by the largest roster in program history. With record participation and outstanding performances throughout the season, our Saints continue to raise the bar both on and off the course.

Senior Sunrise! The Class of 2026 kicked off their final year at STE by watching the sunrise together. This tradition marks the start of new adventures and the bright path that lies ahead.

Men’s Varsity Basketball captured the TAPPS 4A District 6 Championship, advanced to the state semifinals, and finished the season with an impressive 24–8 record. A tremendous year for the Saints on the court!

Our Fall Fair fun continued with classic games like the Duck Pond, where smiles, splashes, and prizes made every turn a win! Thanks to the support of our STE community, we raised $28,600 at Fall Fair! Women’s Varsity Soccer finished 3rd in TAPPS Division III District 5 and advanced to the bi-district round of the playoffs. The team wrapped up the season with a strong 7–4 record.

Men’s Varsity Soccer wrapped up an incredible season with a strong run to the TAPPS Division III Boys Soccer Area Playoffs!

Our Varsity Cross Country teams traveled to Waco for the TAPPS State Championships, where the Men’s team finished 8th overall with 236 points! A special shoutout to Rhensler Hubbard for finishing in the Top 10 and earning All-State honors!

WASHINGTON D.C. 8th Grade Trip

Our annual 8th Grade trip to Washington, D.C. brings history to life as students explore the nation’s capital, visit historic landmarks, and deepen their understanding of American government and heritage.

TEXAS HISTORY 7th Grade Trip

Our annual 7th Grade Texas History Trip takes students to San Antonio, Austin, and Brenham, where they experience the people, places, and events that shaped Texas history.

After completing their novel RMS Titanic, our 5th graders celebrated with the annual Titanic Tea , enjoying tea, snacks, and a chance to "set sail" together.

Lower School Parents’ Day is one of STE’s most beloved traditions. This special event gives Kindergarten-4th Grade students the chance to showcase the Highland Dance steps they’ve learned throughout the year.

The World Culture Club International Festival brought the world to campus as students shared countries through interactive tables, games, and hands-on experiences, making it a true celebration of the rich diversity within our community!

Our 3rd graders wrapped up their animal research with their “Hatitat” project! Students researched an animal, wrote an essay, presented their findings, and then brought their learning to life by creating their animal’s habitat on a hat.

At the 5th Grade Wax Museum , students brought historical figures to life through research, costumes, and presentations.

At the 3rd Grade States Showcase, students proudly presented their assigned states, sharing facts, landmarks, traditions, and unique details from across the country.

College T-Shirt Day! Our seniors proudly wore t-shirts of the colleges and universities they’ve chosen, while the rest of the school joined in to celebrate their journey and what’s ahead.

One of the longest standing traditions at STE is the Senior dance at Sounds of Scotland, King of Laois . For almost 30 years, Seniors have looked forward to performing this right of passage.

Senior Pennant Day is a cherished STE tradition where seniors proudly showcase pennants from the colleges and universities to which they have been accepted - a joyful celebration of their accomplishments and exciting next steps.

When I think about why I give to Saint Thomas' Episcopal School, the answer is simple: this community has shaped my family in ways that go far beyond academics. STE challenges students to pursue excellence, but more importantly, it teaches them to love Christ, serve others, and live with honor and integrity. I've witnessed this community celebrate life's greatest joys and faithfully walk alongside our family through our hardest season. That kind of Christ-centered support cannot be measured in test scores or college acceptances—it is the heart of this school. I want every student and family to experience the same love, faith, and sense of belonging that has made STE so meaningful to us. As a law enforcement officer for 26 years, I know there can sometimes be mixed feelings about police officers in today’s society. However, working at this school has been an incredibly positive experience. From the staff to the students and parents, they have always made us feel welcomed, appreciated, and accepted. We have received nothing but positive feedback, and it is clear that the school truly values the presence and partnership of law enforcement. I’m excited to step into the role of Head of Lower School and continue building on the strong foundation at Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School. One of our most exciting initiatives for the 2026–2027 school year is the introduction of Veritas Press History in Grades 3–5, helping students explore the people, events, and ideas that have shaped our world while recognizing God’s hand throughout history. This curriculum will strengthen connections between history, literature, writing, and geography. As we look ahead, I am eager to partner with our teachers and families to cultivate both academic excellence and strong character in every student.

When it came time for my wife and me to choose a school for our sons, we chose STE because I had experienced firsthand the lasting value of a Christian classical education as an alumnus. From the beginning, STE felt like more than a school—it felt like family, and that sense of community has remained an important part of our lives. Recently, I joined the school board to help ensure STE continues its mission of preparing honorable young men and women to serve the world with wisdom, character, and talent.

We have just completed our eighth year as part of the STE family. Since my son entered Preschool, I have been actively involved as a parent volunteer, including co-leading the Moms in Prayer group, serving on the Book Fair and Fall Fair Committees, and acting as an STF class representative. Throughout our time at STE, we have been grateful for the opportunities to serve the school community. We especially love the unique Scottish Arts program and the STE mission, both of which have had a lasting impact on our family.

Support from The Saint Thomas’ Fund strengthens every aspect of campus life, including academics, athletics, fine arts, Scottish Arts, spiritual life, and countless opportunities that enrich the daily experience of every student. The Tartan Society The Tartan Society serves as the leadership giving society for Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School, recognizing donors whose generous support of The Saint Thomas’ Fund reflects a deep commitment to the mission, vision, and future of STE. Tartan Society members understand the lasting impact their investment has on the student experience, helping strengthen academics, athletics, fine arts, Scottish Arts, spiritual life, faculty excellence, and campus enhancements across every division of the school. With five levels of giving beginning at $1,000, The Tartan Society honors and celebrates its members through meaningful recognition and exclusive engagement opportunities throughout the year. This year, more than 125 households joined The Tartan Society and collectively contributed nearly $350,000 to The Saint Thomas’ Fund. This extraordinary level of support speaks volumes about the confidence our community has in STE and its future. Throughout the 2025–2026 school year, Tartan Society members gathered for several special events designed to celebrate generosity, build community, and offer a deeper look into the life and vision of the school. In August, supporters gathered at Grotto for a kickoff reception celebrating the start of the school year and honoring our returning leadership donors. In January, members enjoyed a cozy evening in the courtyard while receiving a special preview of STE’s developing strategic plan and future priorities. In addition to these gatherings, Tartan Society House Parties offered members and prospective supporters opportunities to connect in a more personal setting while learning about the impact of The Saint Thomas’ Fund. This spring, STE also hosted two Impact Days for select leadership donors, offering an inside look at key areas of growth and investment across campus. One Impact Day highlighted STE’s continued focus on STEM programming and innovation, while the second centered on missional and academic initiatives that continue to shape the student experience and strengthen our Episcopal identity. These opportunities allowed supporters to see firsthand the meaningful difference their generosity makes in the daily lives of our students and faculty. COMMUNITY EVENTS

Saint Thomas’ community events are a longstanding part of school life, bringing together students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the school throughout the year. From Spaghetti Supper to Family Bingo Night, these events celebrate the traditions and relationships that have shaped the STE community for generations. Their impact extends beyond the events themselves, providing opportunities for members of the STE community to gather, reconnect, and remain engaged with the life of the school. While net proceeds from community events support the overall Saint Thomas Fund and enhance the student experience, their greatest impact is in cultivating the vibrant culture and strong community that define Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School.

This special event brought our community together for an evening of celebration and connection, all in support of the Saint Thomas’ Fund. As the school’s major annual fundraiser, the Gala attracted families and friends who are passionate about advancing our mission.

This year’s Southern Soiree Gala and Auction, led by our Development Team and supported by an incredible group of dedicated volunteers, was a wonderful success raising over $168,000. Of that total, an impressive $20,110 came from our PreK–12th grade class contributions. The evening was a true testament to the strength and generosity of our community. We were deeply grateful to our volunteers, patrons, and especially our amazing donors for their support and for recognizing the vital role the Saint Thomas’ Fund plays in living out our mission and core values.
