Following a structural reorganisation designed to support our continued growth we have created the crucial executive role of Commercial Director and are seeking to recruit an industry-leading professional that shares our values and ambitions. Reporting directly to me and working closely with our Operations Director, Finance Director and wider senior team, the Commercial Director will lead all commercial activities across the business as we continue to grow. As part of the senior team, you will play a leading role in the development of client relationships and partnerships whilst taking direct responsibility for the oversight of tendering, supply chain management, contractual and risk matters with an aim of deriving sustainable commercial returns across all Novus work. We are seeking an individual with proven experience and track record in commercial leadership roles in the construction and property sector, preferably with experience of working within a business with characteristics (ethos, client-base, services, scale etc.) similar to those found here at Novus. You will have the capability and credibility to lead internal teams and stakeholders and will demonstrate behaviours including detail-focus and accuracy, composure, dependability and results-focus.

Role Summary /

The Commercial Director is responsible for the successful leadership, management and governance of assigned business areas but also the wider organisation according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. The role leads tendering and commercial activities, including supply chain, to determine optimal pricing to manage risk and maximise profit without compromising other key business metrics, e.g. health & safety, customer and client satisfaction.

Key Accountabilities /

Strategy • Develops and agrees the short, medium and long-term strategic growth plans • Supports the preparation of a national business plan in line with the agreed strategy • Defines, directs and leads a commercial strategy that balances risk to the business with opportunity for income generation • Works with the Operations Director and the Head of Communications and Client Engagement to develop a strategy for expanding revenue growth in new and existing markets in line with agreed growth plans • Performance and Risk Management Collaboratively works with the Operations Director to develop MI capability

Health & Safety • Contributes to the development of the company-wide H&S strategy Embeds H&S best practice across all areas of responsibility and support best practice in all other areas of the business Governance • Develops a sustainable compliance culture, recognising statutory, regulatory and policy obligations and responsibilities • Ensures that appropriate controls and measures are in place to support and protect the business •

• Challenges non-compliance and reports unresolved exceptions to the Novus Board

• Oversees the preparation of operational budgets

• Reviews contracts and makes recommendations on commerciality

• Determines optimal pricing to compete in marketplace

• Monitors performance of commercial activities using key metrics

Board Interaction • Provides regular strategic and commercial updates to the Board(s)

• Oversees the company-wide monthly valuation process

Anticipates and manages commercial risk

• Oversees supply chain strategy including all commercial terms for suppliers Client Management • Builds long-term strategic relationships with high value / high potential clients

• Contributes to wider Board proposals and decision making, outside of direct areas of responsibility

Working with the Operations Director, supports negotiations for ongoing contracts with clients

Pipeline • Oversees the selection and prioritisation of opportunities for new contracts • Adjudicates the commerciality of bids and appropriate risk provision Develops new client relationships (alongside the Operations Director), supporting business proposals and overseeing the preparation of tenders •
