Drug charge from traffic stop
It started as a routine traffic stop. It ended with an Embrunman chargedwith posses- sion of methamphetamine. An OPP patrol stopped a vehicle June 3 on Notre-Dame Street in Embrun for a traffic violation concerning lack of a valid licence plate. A police records computer check told the officers the driver, Andrew Charles Signore, 35, of Embrun, also had no valid driver’s licence. Further investiga- tion turned up an unspecified amount of methamphetamine in Signore’s possession. Signore is now scheduled for the July 22 provincial court session in L’Orignal on a charge of methamphetamine possession. He also has an appointment in provincial traffic court on July 2 on a charge of driving without insurance and a provincial offence ticket for driving a vehicle without proper validation notice on the licence plate. Chip stand burglary Martine Larocque-Renaud, 23, of Cas- selman, is charged with break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence and also with mischief involving damage less than $5000 value. The break-and-enter charge relates to an incident at a chip stand located on Racine Street in Casselman in 2013. Larocque-Renaud is scheduled for the July 8 provincial court session in L’Orignal on the charges. Domestic assault A 39-year-old Embrun man, name not released, is charged with two counts of spou- sal assault following police investigation of an incident on June 3 in Casselman. Police were called to a domestic dispute situation that day on Albert Street. The OPP incident report states that a man and a woman had started talking about their relationship status after which the discussion became an argu- ment, leading to an alleged assault. Threats A 21-year-old Embrun man, name not released, is charged with uttering threats following police investigation of a May 30 incident on First Avenue in Russell village. A woman told police she had received threate- ning text messages fromher ex-partner.The accused is scheduled for the June 24 provin- cial court session in L’Orignal. Harassment
Police have charged a 30-year-old Cas- selman man with several charges after investigating a domestic incident on Route 600 West on June 4. The woman filing the complaint told police her ex-partner was harassing her and provided details of other ongoing issues.
The accused, his name not released, is charged with criminal harassment inclu- ding repeated stalking, communication, and threatening conduct. He is also charged with trespass by being inside a home without permission, and with theft under a value of $5000. He is scheduled for the June 24
Une tradition vieille de 20 ans
Environ 120 motocyclistes ont pris part à la 20 e Run d’eau bénite qui a débuté à Plantagenet, le 31 mai dernier, avec la bénédiction annuelle à l’Église St-Paul, du village. Le père Jean-Louis Gosselin a présidé la cérémonie. L’événement annuel du chapitre francophone de l’Est ontarien de GoldWing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) proposait ensuite aux participants une randonnée jusqu’à la Fromagerie St-Albert, soit environ 100 kmde routes secondaires afin d’apprécier la région. S’il était un temps où
l’activité était aussi l’occasion d’organiser un tirage dont les profits étaient remis à des œuvres caritatives, aujourd’hui la Run d’eau bénite tient simplement de rendez- vous aux amateurs demotos qui, dumême coup, font la connaissance de passionnés comme eux. Les membres du chapitre se réunissent à chaque deuxième dimanche dumois au restaurant Le Chardo à Alfred et décident à cette occasion des sorties qu’ils comptent organiser.
