Asphalt surfacing by Collen Bros (Quarries) Collen Bros (Quarries) Ltd was sub-contracted to deliver asphalt surfacing of the roads, footpaths and carpark for AMIC. The Portadown-based firm was honoured to be working at such a high-profile site placing Northern Ireland at the cutting edge of the manufacturing sector. Challenges included site constraints with a number of areas identified as having inadequate falls for drainage. Peter Collen, Director, says, “These issues were identified by Collen Bros and brought to the attention of the Henry Brothers site team. The affected areas were subsequently surveyed and redesigned in a timely manner, with all parties working collaboratively to successfully resolve the issue.” Long-term partners, the site teams at Collen Bros and Henry Brothers worked well together to complete the project to the highest quality in a timely manner. Involved in construction across NI since 1810, Collen Bros is now primarily focused on the supply and application of asphalt products and quarry materials from its own quarry in Tandragee, including coloured asphalt products and decorative pre-coated chippings.
