After successfully having completed Lesson 12 of the Service Lift Installation, Inspection and Repair Module:

67) The participants can take responsibility to install and do a visual inspection and replacement of drive and safety wire ropes according to manuals (Ability, intermediate level)

ELEMENT 12.1 - DRIVE ROPES, IN GENERAL

Learning objective:

68) The participants can perform a replacement and inspection of drive and safety ropes, including the system that monitors the condition of the primary suspension cable (Skills, intermediate level)

The instructor shall:

Demonstrate how to test the system that monitors the condition of the primary suspension cable and facilitate that participants test the system that monitors the condition

Demonstrate how to inspect, grease, and replace drive and safety ropes

Facilitate practical training on inspecting and replacing drive and safety ropes

Provide feedback to the participants on their performance during the practical training

The participants shall:

Engage in discussion about how and when to test the system that monitors the condition of the primary suspension cable by following procedures according to the relevant manual (e.g. monitoring sensors and slack-rope test)

Engage in practice about visual inspection of the diameter of drive rope and safety rope in unloaded state at three points: bottom, middle and top

Engage in practice how to do correct greasing of a drive rope sufficiently according to the manual

Share experiences, and apply the received feedback in following exercises
