The instructor shall:
Present examples of labels and type plates for FADs from manuals
Facilitate an exercise for determining when to replace labels
Demonstrate how to apply labels to FADs
Lead or facilitate a discussion on how and what to inspect in relation to labels and type plates (in relation to FADs) and how to replace labels
The participants shall:
Engage in the exercise on inspecting labels and type plates, take part in discussions and share experiences on how and what to inspect in relation to labels and type plates on FADs and how to apply labels
ELEMENT 15.2 - GENERAL CONDITION
Learning objective:
91) The participants can perform an inspection of the general condition of a fall arrest device, and replace a fall arrest device, following the manuals (Skills, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Present key points in relation to the inspection of the general condition of fall arrest devices in different lift types, e.g.:
a.
Wear on intake bushing
b.
The electrical wiring from the FAD
c.
Centrifugal system
Demonstrate how to install different types of fall arrest devices by following manuals
Facilitate an exercise, where the participants investigate manuals and discuss how to inspect and replace different types of fall arrest devices
Lead a discussion about how and why components in fall arrest devices are tested in accordance with the manufacturers’ manual
