The participants shall:
Share experiences on the use of lifts and discuss how human factors may influence this. Furthermore, the participants must engage in discussions and quizzes about:
a. The risks of transferring more than the maximum permitted number of people or payload, so that they understand the risks of overloading a lift
b. Why the transport of people in automatic drive is prohibited, so that they understand the risks and refrain from this
c. Consequences of overloading a lift, so that they understand the risks of this. Overload protection systems will be covered during the practical exercises in lesson 4 and 5
d. How to ‘overload auto-stop’ to descend, so that they understand the general principles of ‘overload auto-stop’ on different lift types
e. How to use the lift by use of send/call station on different lift types
f. The necessity of using a two-way communication system when using a lift
g. Relevant passenger safety issues, e.g. attachment point requirements and load distribution
Suggestions for alternative or additional learning activities
The participants discuss in smaller groups appointed topics related to transportation of personnel and equipment in a lift and share conclusions and reflections in plenum. The instructor shall provide constructive feedback to the groups
The participants answer questionnaire on transporting personnel or equipment in lifts. Questions must support and challenge the participants’ reflections and decision making

21) The participants can describe relevant functionalities of different lift types, and use their knowledge in the following process exercises (Knowledge, basic level)
