Present (or hand out) an example of a pre-use inspection checklist and lead a discussion on the most important points in the checklist according to the relevant lift manual
The participants shall:
Engage in the group discussions and share experiences on the pre-use inspection checklist
ELEMENT 4.3 - PRE-USE INSPECTION STEPS, OUTSIDE THE LIFT
Learning objective:
26) The participants can take responsibility to follow the pre-use inspection checklist and conduct a pre-use inspection of the exterior of a lift (Ability, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Describe and show examples of wear and damages on wires and cables that can be discovered by a pre-use inspection
Facilitate group discussion on possible risks and hazards in using lifts with damaged wires or cables
Present example of an inspection list for top and bottom switches and describe the procedure for function test of these
Facilitate a process exercise on doing the pre-use inspection steps outside the lift
Provide feedback on discussions and on participants’ professional and human performance and experiences during the practical exercise
The participants shall:
Engage in group discussions and process exercises, receive feedback constructively and share own experiences on the inspection responsibility and damage that wires and cables can have
Follow the inspection list for top and bottom switches, and on their own initiative seek guidance when needed
Conduct function test of top and bottom switches
Practise how to open and close doors and gates correctly
