The instructor shall:
Facilitate group discussions about safety brakes, overspeed systems, external factors such as spilled fluids, excessive grease, weather related challenges and other relevant general safety issues that may already have been covered in the training
Provide feedback on the participants’ professional and performance and engagement in the assignments
The participants shall:
Consult manuals about when and how to release the safety brake on the lift
Discuss the use of the safety brake in the lift
Discuss the correct procedure after an activation of overspeed system in different lift types and seek guidance in the manuals
Engage in a discussion about external factors, such as spilled fluids, excessive grease, and weather related challenges for using a lift in a WTG, including hazards due to wind conditions
Engage in a general discussion about the necessity of complying with all safety instructions, markings, and protective safety measures on the plant
ELEMENT 5.11 - EMERGENCY DESCENT
Learning objective:
48) The participants can take responsibility for carrying out an emergency descent of the lift safely and in accordance with manuals and guides (Ability, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Demonstrate how to perform an emergency descent of the lift and present emergency descent systems from alternative lift types. Explain conditions when emergency descent must not be used and present alternative actions to be taken
Facilitate learning activities where the participants practise how to perform an emergency descent of the lift
Provide feedback on the participants’ professional and personal performance
