Service Lift Training Standard / V4

Present and demonstrate examples of how to ensure that a lift is in a controlled hazardous energy state

Facilitate a short scenario, where the participants practise how to de-energise the lift system or find necessary guidance in manuals

The participants shall:

Engage in discussions and share experiences on hazardous energy states in WTGs, including risks and hazards

Practise how to de-energise the lift system and follow necessary guidance in manuals

Discuss risks of working on a system that is not in a controlled hazardous energy state

ELEMENT 3.2 - WORK AREAS IN THE WTG

Learning objective:

23) The participants show interest in ensuring safe working areas by avoiding slippery surfaces, maintaining proper housekeeping in the lift area, and taking special care in areas with restricted space and hazards from moving and stationary parts in the WTG (Ability, basic level)

The instructor shall:

Point out or present examples of restricted spaces in a WTG

Lead a discussion about how, and why, to avoid and mitigate slippery surfaces

Present examples of hazardous moving and stationary parts in a WTG

Lead a discussion about the importance of maintaining proper housekeeping

Lead or facilitate discussion and ask for participants’ experiences on restricted spaces, slippery surfaces, and proper housekeeping in relation to lifts in WTGs

The participants shall:

Engage in discussions and share experiences about incidents from slippery surfaces and how to maintain proper housekeeping in a WTG

Find examples of working areas with restricted space and hazardous moving and stationary parts in lift manuals and other relevant documents
