Responsible Agency : CoFW TPW Reporting Frequency : Annual

A-3: Number of fatal and serious injury (FSI) crashes that involved Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) (i.e., bicyclists and pedestrians) (5-year average) Source: The original data is sourced from TxDOT’s CRIS database and supplemented with the crash analysis from the SAP project team. Baseline (2023) : 103 FSI crashes that involved VRUs Baseline Methodology: The number of VRU FSI crashes is a 5-year rolling average calculated based on the 4 years leading up to and including the reporting year. 2050 Target: Zero FSI crashes involving VRUs Target Setting Methodology: The CoFW is developing an SAP. It is recommended that the M1M safety performance target aligns with the SAP target of reaching zero fatal and serious injury crashes by 2050. The performance target for the number of fatal and serious injury crashes in any given years between 2023 and 2050 is calculated based on the 2023 crash data as the initial point and zero as the final point on the projected line for serious injury crashes using a straight-line method. The number of serious injury crashes is expected to be reduced by 4 each year to 57 in total in 2035.
