Sesquicentennial fun in Russell !
This restored 1952 Russell Fire Truck was used to fight fires until the 1970’s and was at the center of the Saturday parade.The 3rd place winner float was refurbished by a group of volunteers who have worked hundreds of hours so it could be in the parade: Henry Staal, George James, Rob Laporte, Roely Staal, Nick MacIntosh, Bob Proper, George Zandbelt and Ed Bowkett.The Kin Club of Russell’s Canada Day float was chosen by the crowd as the first-place winner float, and second place went to the Russell Horticultural Society. Although rain was at the center of the Russell Canada Day Celebrations, it did not stop hundreds of people, including local trio Elsa, Milkshake and Cam, to share in on the fun.
