The Prescott-Russell Residence has a new administrator. The Vankleek Hill Fair is back to its normal programming after two years of reduced activities due to COVID-19. “I am happy to be able to say that we’re having a full-fledged fair again after two years of hardship, and people wanting to do things BOEOPUCFJOHBCMFUP uTBJE"M/JYPO GBJS committee president. “It looks like everybody is happy to come.” Programming includes live music at the beer garden, a demolition derby, a combine derby, a heavy horse show, a Holstein show, rides, food stands and more. In 2020, the fair comittee had only organized a parade through the streets of Vankleek Hill. The Vankleek Hill Fair takes place August 18 to 21.

Rick Dorval a été aux premières loges de l’ascension de l’équipe de Hawkesbury dans la CCHL : « Quand je suis arrivé ici, on était une des pires équipes de la ligue et on était chanceux si on avait 100 partisans par game dans les estrades. Maintenant, l’aréna est pleine à chaque match et on fait partie de l’élite de la CCHL. Ça aide aussi à recruter d’autres joueurs. Quand t’amène un joueur en visite voir un match, quand ils voient l’atmosphère qu’il y a dans l’aréna, c’est très impressionnant. » L’architecte des Hawks est heureux de relever un nouveau défi dans l’OHL, car son poste d’entraîneur-adjoint lui permettra de consacrer plus de temps au développement des joueurs : « Je suis très heureux de me joindre aux Wolves de Sudbury. C’est un club très talentueux, et j’ai hâte de pouvoir me concentrer sur le développement des joueurs. Être coach et directeur général pour les Hawks, c’était une expérience très enri- chissante, mais les gens ne se rendent pas compte de tout le temps qu’on doit consa- crer à des questions administratives quand on est coach et GM en même temps. Le fait d’être entraîneur-djoint, ça va me permettre de me concentrer sur le développement des joueurs, et c’est ça ma passion. »

The Vankleek Hill Community Centre will be closed for a year starting in September for renovations. Changes will be made to the rink’s refri- geration system, the exterior façade will be beautified, and the interior upgraded to meet accessibility and safety standards. The estimated cost is $3.1 million. The community centre was built in 1978, at approximately the same time as almost every other arena in the region. Eastern Ontario communities take turns renovating their sports facilities while providing an opportunity for the region’s sports teams to organize with other communities. The arena is home to the Vankleek Hill Cougars who play in the NCJHL. The hockey club is in talks with the Hawkesbury arena to find a temporary home. «We hope to have an official answer soon,» explains Greg McEachern, co-owner of the

Monsieur André Lambert, de L’Orignal, est décédé le lundi 8 août 2022, à l’âge de 83 ans. Il était le tendre époux de Liliane Lambert née Arsenault; le fils de feu Arthur Lambert et de feu Léona Grenier; le père bien- aimé de feu Carol (Hubert St-Jean), Jacques (Martine Brazeau), Julie (Marc Campbell) et Lina (Michael LeTouzel); le grand-père adoré de Patrick, Dominik, Mathieu, Joël, Kayla et Grace; le cher frère d’Aldéric, Aimé, Léo, Colette, Gérard, Hélène et Florent. Il fut prédécédé par plusieurs frères et sœurs. Lui survivent également plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, cousins, cousines, neveux, nièces et amis. La famille aimerait remercier le personnel de l’Hôpital général de Hawkesbury, y compris les infirmières et préposés du 2 e étage et Dr. Patel, pour les excellents soins prodigués.
