This meeting serves as a platform for collaboration between the Desert Mountain SELPA Career Readiness and Employment Services team, TPP contracted staff, and guest speakers (TBD) with the shared objective of enhancing the support offered to TPP participants. It provides an opportunity to exchange ideas and engage in strategic planning to optimize the educational and vocational experiences of program participants. Additionally, contract goals will be reviewed and participants will engage in discussions about upcoming workshops and paid work experience opportunities for the year ahead.

Transition Planning for All Students COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS

This course is designed to provide participants with an overview of the legally mandated and ethical requirements necessary to meet Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) transition mandates for students, beginning when they enter high school and no later than the first IEP in effect at age 16. An emphasis will be placed on transition services including the Individual Transition Plan (ITP), legal mandates, age-appropriate assessments, and measurable postsecondary and annual goals. Using the person-centered planning process, participants will learn how to generate student profiles essential in the required planning of postsecondary goals. Participants will also learn how to meet the requirement of Indicator 13 and the strategies necessary to involve students and family members in student-centered transition planning.
Intended Audience
Special education teachers, general education teachers, counselors, administrators, psychologists, and other interested support staff who work with the secondary student population.
