This session emphasizes the importance of cultivating a positive climate where all educational partners feel valued and supported, while strengthening relationships through an understanding of basic needs, emotions, and using a common language. Participants will engage in activities related to school-wide behavioral and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) expectations, explore aligning school acknowledgments with these expectations, review the SEL Guiding Principles, and learn strategies to support both themselves and students.

Office staff, nurses, and administrators.

This course will assist educators with developing a trauma-informed lens, to help work with students with challenging behaviors. Participants will learn how to identify function of behavior, the principles of function-focused intervention and receive strategies to respond to the needs of children who need the most love, but ask for it in the most unloving of ways.
Intended Audience
Paraprofessionals, general and special education teachers, site administrators, and district administrators.
