Behavioral Interviewing FOR: Anyone responsible for screening and hiring applicants

Harassment, Discrimination and Abusive Conduct Prevention FOR: Anyone who acts as a supervisor DURATION: 2 Hours LANGUAGES: English, Spanish Using case studies and group discussions, this AB- 1825 and AB-2053 compliant workshop explores the consequences of discrimination, abusive conduct and harassment on the individual and the organization. This course is required by California law within six months of hire and then every two years for anyone in a supervisory role.

Learn how to facilitate the fundamentals of the interview process and behavioral interviewing. Creating Job Descriptions FOR: Anyone responsible for creating and maintaining job descriptions DURATION: 1.5 Hours LANGUAGES: English Learn how to develop standardized documentation that covers the three core elements of any job description.

Understanding Leave Laws FOR: Anyone responsible for understanding and managing Leaves of Absence. DURATION: Managers – 1.5 hours, HR professionals – 2.25 hours LANGUAGES: English, Spanish This course covers the basics of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and essential steps to administering leave programs. Learn simple strategies for having effective leave discussions with employees, best practices for managing intermittent leaves and a review of the Americans with Disabilities Act plus the interactive process. Wage and Hour Laws FOR: Anyone responsible for managing hours, wages and compensation DURATION: Managers – 2 hours, HR professionals – 3 hours LANGUAGES: English, Spanish Get an overview of state (CA and AZ) and federal wage and hour laws and discuss the role that managers play in ensuring employees consistently adhere to the law, including how they can help their organizations reduce the likelihood of costly wage and hour claims.

Harassment, Discrimination, and Abusive Conduct Prevention

Using case studies and group discussions, this AB 1825 and AB 2053 compliant workshop explores the consequences of sexual harassment on the individual and the organization. We’ll discuss the important elements of carefully and correctly handling sexual harassment issues and complaints. We’ll review the legal definitions of sexual harassment and employment discrimination, learn how to appropriately handle sexual harassment complaints, discuss the negative impact of abusive conduct in the workplace, and management’s legal obligations. NEW CALIFORNIA TRAINING LAW: SB 1343 Effective January 1, 2019, employers in California with 5 or more employees (or independent contractors) must provide sexual harassment training to all employees (SB 1343). The deadline for compliance with initial training is January 1, 2020. Under the new law, covered employers must: • Provide supervisory employees with 2 hours of training every 2 years • Provide nonsupervisory employees with 1 hour of training every 2 years Both supervisory and nonsupervisory employees must receive training within 6 months of hire or placement into their positions. Beginning January 1, 2020, seasonal and temporary employees, or any employee that is hired to work for less than 6 months must receive training within 30 days of hire or within 100 hours worked, whichever occurs first. Training for temporary employees must be provided by the temporary services employer, not the client. Migrant and seasonal agricultural workers must receive training consistent with existing requirements for training nonsupervisory employees of farm labor contractors (CA Labor Code Sec. 1684(8)(A)).

FDA’s Produce Safety Rule In promulgating the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) established the Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption or, as it is commonly called, the Produce Safety Rule. The Produce Safety Alliance (PSA) Grower Training Course is one way to satisfy the FDA’s Produce Safety Rule requirement outlined in § 112.22(c) that at least one supervisor or responsible party for your farm must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the FDA. AgSafe and Western Growers are hosting several courses in 2018.

Listeria Monocytogenes Intervention & Control Workshop FOR: Packinghouse or fresh-cut operation’s quality assurance, food safety, sanitation, production, operations, maintenance and/or engineering staff member Western Growers has partnered with United Fresh and PMA to offer this workshop. This program has been specifically designed for the produce industry. During this 1.5 day event, attendees will learn from FDA, academia and industry experts in general sessions on sanitary design, sanitation best practices and environmental monitoring.
