FUNDAMENTALS OF ML INSTRUCTION: FEATURING THE SIOP MODEL
This 3-module course helps educators increase student interaction and language production in both classroom and online settings . Participants learn strategies for grouping students, fostering academic language use, providing effective wait time, and supporting students’ first languages. Designed for PreK-12 educators working with multilingual learners, the course can be completed in about five hours at your own pace. PROMOTING INTERACTION IN THE CLASSROOM AND ONLINE: CAL SIOP ESSENTIALS This 3-module course helps educators apply two core components of the SIOP Model: Building Background and Comprehensible Input , to better support multilingual learners. Participants practice strategies for linking new concepts to students’ prior knowledge, teaching key vocabulary, and making lessons comprehensible through visuals, media, and adjusted teacher talk. Designed for PreK-12 teachers, instructional specialists, and support staff working with multilingual learners, the course can be completed in about five hours at your own pace. BUILDING BACKGROUND AND COMPREHENSIBLE INPUT: CAL SIOP ESSENTIALS Participants learn how language is acquired in content classrooms, practice writing and using content and language objectives, and apply strategies that make lessons more accessible . Designed for PreK-12 teachers, EL specialists, and administrators who work with or support multilingual learners, and can be completed in about five hours at your own pace . This 3-module course provides a foundation in multilingual learner instruction using the SIOP Model.
