That depends on all the high-priority items staying on the confirmed capital works projects list. The 2019 capital works portion of the budget proposal includes $1.8 million for the infrastructure department to cover the costs for all priority paving projects along with replacement of two culverts, one on #MBJT4USFFUBOEUIFPUIFSPO/PUSF%BNF Street. If all went well, Russell Township has its new budget for the year as of this past Tuesday night. The Family Day long weekend meant that Russell Township council had its second regular session of the month on Tuesday evening instead of Monday, which was a statutory holiday. The evening agenda included final review and approval of the proposed 2019 muni- cipal budget, including a projected two per cent tax rate increase on the municipal levy portion. 5PXOTIJQ1VCMJD8PSLT%JSFDUPS+POB - than Bourgon anticipates a busy road works schedule with approval of the budget.
Public works crews all across Prescott- Russell had their hands full to keep roads open thanks to the February 13 snow storm. The storm dropped about 30 centimetres of snow onto the Five Counties region and UIF$JUZPG0UUBXBBTJUTXFQUBDSPTT&BTUFSO Ontario. The 53 rd edition of the Crysler Carnival attracted hundreds of participants last week. “Well Crysler, once again you have all made our small town one of the brightest spots on the map,” said Carnival Committee Director Danielle Linnett. “Your support of the Winter carnival has been overwhelming.” The event featured several different activities, such as hockey games, a ladies’ night, a kids’ movie, several competitions and fundraisers as well as snowshoeing and a breakfast, organized by the Crysler firefighters, to name a few. A year ago, Nicolas Séguin created an outdoor fun site in Moose Creek. Located in the middle of the forest, Countryside Adventures features a three-kilometre skate course. «People from Ottawa, Montreal and the United States come here,” said Séguin. “In my first winter of operation, we welcomed more than 4000 people, which isn’t bad.” The owner now wants to give back to the community. Séguin and his team will donate 20 per cent of their earnings, during the weekend of February 23 and 24, to the Children’s Hospital of Ottawa.
