injustices to raise their voices and “only through our collective outcry that we can hope to dismantle the systemic barriers that perpetuate this abuse.” Only three days prior, on Feb. 19, Mayor Leroux posted a more than 12 minute video addressing his sentiments on the issue. The video got over 2,500 views and 60 comments. He states that in the last few years, he has noticed that messages he has received and comments on his posts have become very negative. Leroux said he sees a lot of misinformation being spread on social media platforms, people holding grudges, and people who are taking one line from a conversation and turning it into a “clip of the day style weapon” against the township or council. Leroux apologises for stepping back on his social media. He expressed hope that the harassment would subside if he wasn’t engaging with the harassment. “I felt that if I stopped engaging with those people on social media, I would somehow provide less fuel for the fire. But now I rea- lize: the fire will always be burning, and my absence will mean one less person throwing water on it.”

Casselman Mayor Geneviève Lajoie and Russell Mayor Pierre Leroux are spea- king out against the harassment they receive on a regular basis as municipal officials. On Feb. 22, Lajoie posted to her Facebook wall about her experience on the constant harassment she has been living with as a person in politics. She mentions how she has been subjected to “unspeakable com- ments and threats that have no place in a civilized society.” Lajoie received remarks that demean women and threats for exerci- sing her duties as mayor, which she believes underlines the systemic abuse rooted in society. “This is not just an attack on individuals; it’s an assault on the very principles of equa- lity and democracy,” Lajoie writes in her post. “Let us be loud, be bold, and unequivocally clear: harassment, in any form, against anyone, is unacceptable” Lajoie posted the comments the same day the mayor of Gatineau France Bélisle resigned to leave an environment she des- cribed as hostile. An Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer tasered, shot and killed a “dan- gerous and aggressive dog” in Embrun after the dog’s owner was arrested. Around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, QPMJDFXFSFDBMMFEUP/PUSF%BNF4USFFUOFBS Lapointe Boulevard, where the owner of the dog was reportedly walking around with a large knife, according to the OPP. The man was arrested without incident, however, the dog was attacking other dogs and people, including a police officer.

This notice is to inform stakeholders and interested parties that the Corporation of the Township of Russell is initiating a Schedule B Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to review and study the proposed expansion of the road network within the Vars Industrial Park. The road network expansion intends to provide access to subject lands, optimize new lot configuration and improve transportation efficiency to and within the park, all while considering existing conditions and constraints. The Schedule B Class EA (Environmental Assessment) process aims to thoroughly review the expansion of the roadway infrastructure within the industrial park. The expansions would involve the construction of new road ROWs (Right of Way), and implementing associated drainage infrastructure, to expand the current road network and to assess potential connections to Burton Road and Eadie Road. The purpose of the Environmental Assessment is to assess the project area existing conditions, design alternatives and identify potential environmental impacts associated with the roadway expansion, and ensure design is compliant with relevant regulatory agencies. 7KH 3URFHVV In compliance with Schedule B Activities, the Township of Russell will be conducting a screening processand engaging in consultations with directly affected parties (including the public and Indigenous groups), relevant stakeholders and pertinent review agencies. The Township will perform an evaluation of alternative solutions, an assessment of potential impacts associated with the proposed expansion of road network and development of measures to mitigate identified impacts. 3XEOLF &RQVXOWDWLRQ Public consultation is an integral component of the Class EA process, and we value your input during the planning process. A Public Information Center (PIC) will be held in association with the proposed road network expansion. L’avis présent a pour but d'informer les intervenants et les parties intéressées que la corporation de la Municipalité de Russell entreprend une évaluation environnementale de portée générale selon l'annexe B (ÉE de portée générale) afin d'examiner et d'étudier le projet d'expansion du réseau routier dans le parc industriel de Vars. L'expansion du réseau routier vise à fournir un accès aux terrains visés, à optimiser la configuration des nouveaux lots et à améliorer l'efficacité du transport vers le parc et à l'intérieur de celui-ci, tout en tenant compte des conditions et des contraintes existantes. Le processus d'évaluation environnementale de classe Schedule B vise à examiner en profondeur l'expansion de l'infrastructure routière au sein du parc industriel. Les extensions impliqueraient la construction de nouvelles emprises routières et la mise en place de l'infrastructure de drainage associée, afin d'étendre le réseau routier actuel et d'évaluer les connexions potentielles avec le chemin Burton Road et le chemin Eadie. L'objectif de l'évaluation environnementale est d'évaluer les conditions existantes dans la zone du projet, les alternatives de conception et d'identifier les impacts environnementaux potentiels associés à l'extension de la route, et de s'assurer que la conception est conforme aux agences réglementaires concernées. /H SURFHVVXV Conformément aux activités de l'annexe B, la Municipalité de Russell mènera un processus d'examen préalable et entreprendra des consultations avec les parties directement touchées (y compris le public et les groupes autochtones), les intervenants pertinents et les organismes d'examen pertinents.
