Township administra- tion has recommended contracting the consultant firm, Colliers International, to act as project manager. The next step is to decide on a contrac- tor to build the station, based on the budget allocation.

Le maire actuel de la Municipalité de La Nation, François St-Amour, tentera de se faire élire à nouveau à la première magistrature de La Nation. « Je suis engagé cœur et âme dans ce qu’on a commencé et je veux continuer. J’y tiens beaucoup. Depuis quatre ans, on a fait de bonnes choses », a-t-il partagé d’entrée de jeu lors d’une entrevue le 9 juillet dernier. Il pense, entre autres, à la nouvelle façon dont est gérée l’administration, soit par comités exécutifs. « Depuis que Mary McCuaig est partie, on a décidé de ne pas remplacer le poste de directrice générale. À chaque lundi, et au besoin pendant la semaine, on (les comités) se rencontre. J’ai demandé aux employés et aux conseillers s’ils aiment ça et s’ils sont à l’aise avec ça, et la réponse est positive », a indiqué M. St-Amour. Si M. St-Amour est réélu, il souhaite conti- nuer à travailler sur le dossier de l’expansion de nouvelles sources d’eau à Limoges. « Les pourparlers pour la nouvelle source d’eau avec Rockland, ça s’en vient… Il y a aussi l’étude environnementale de la lagune de Limoges. Ce sont de gros dossiers qu’il faut faire avancer. » M. St-Amour souhaite également pour- suivre le travail au niveau du développement récréatif et résidentiel à Limoges. Au niveau

Russell Township council finished off a special July 5 session, before the sum- mer break, by approving a modified bylaw to allow all local merchants, big and small, the choice of staying open for business on some statutory holidays. The decision followed after the public hearing portion of the Thursday evening ses- sion of council, during which representatives for several major businesses in the township and also the president of the Chambre de commerce Prescott-Russell Chamber of Commerce (CCPRCC) expressed their views regarding the proposed bylaw. The original plan that evening was for council to give first reading to the bylaw, hold the public review, and then set the bylaw aside to come back at a later date for second and third reading and either approval or rejection. Instead, when the bylaw came up for first reading, later during the regular part of the meeting, council members discussed changes to the bylaw suggested by Mayor Pierre Leroux and Councillor Jamie Laurin, and then gave final reading and approval to the revised bylaw. Those changes state UIBU/FX:FBST%BZ (PPE'SJEBZ &BTUFS 5IBOLTHJWJOH.POEBZ BOE$ISJTUNBT%BZ remain standard statutory holidays when all major stores and businesses are closed in Russell Township. i*XBTSFBMMZTVSQSJTFE uTBJE+VMJF#SJTTPO CCPRCC president, during a phone interview July 9. Le Super Pull, la plus grosse tire de tracteurs de l’Est ontarien, a attiré plusieurs conducteurs de tracteurs et camions, d’ici et d’ailleurs. En effet le Super Pull comprend des tracteurs, des camions, des mini-tracteurs, des tracteurs éconos, semi-remorques et des camions diesel. La première tire a eu lieu le samedi soir à 19 h et le Super Pull s’est poursuivi le dimanche après-midi. KIN CLUB WRAPS IT UP
The Kin Club of Russell held its last meeting for the year, welcoming four new members and deciding on upcom- ing projects. The Kin Club now stands at 48 members, having added 21 new members to its ranks since October. The Kin Club had a big year – its Sports Dome project won the Service Project award at the District Convention in Cornwall. The project will now be competing at the national level for Best Service Project PGUIF:FBS
The Kin Club has decided on a number of projects for the fall, most notably starting to work on Welcome to Russell signs for the east and west entrances of the township. The club will also be hosting its first District Convention, the District Fall Leadership $POGFSFODF JO3VTTFMMPO/PWFNCFSBOE XJMMIPMEUIF%S%BSSFMM.FOBSE3PBTUPO December 1. On top of all that, the Kin Club will also be continuing its Catch the Ace lottery draw, which started on June 17.

Monica Gagnier, finissante à l’École secondaire catholique Casselman, est l’une des 50 récipiendaires, à travers le Canada, de la Bourse Schulich Leader, une bourse d’une valeur de 80 000 $. C’est avec beaucoup d’émotion, de joie et de stupéfaction que la jeune femme ori- ginaire de Saint-Isidore a reçu la nouvelle, en avril dernier. « Si tu m’avais dit ça, en 9e année, que je gagnerais cette bourse-là, je ne l’aurais jamais cru. Je sais que je m’implique à l’école, je travaille fort pour mes notes, mais je ne pensais jamais que j’aurais été autant récompensée, avec cette bourse-là », a-t-elle partagé avec notre journal le 21 juin dernier, peu de temps avant de recevoir son diplôme d’études secondaires de l’Ontario ainsi que sa bourse. La Bourse Schulich Leader est décernée à des élèves finissants de l’école secon- daire ou, pour le Québec, qui terminent leur Cégep, et qui entreprendront des études universitaires dans un domaine de recherche scientifique, de technologie, d’innovation ou d’ingénierie. Pour être admissible, le finissant doit répondre à deux de ces trois catégories : il doit se démarquer académiquement, se démarquer par son leadership et son impli- cation communautaire ou il doit avoir des besoins financiers. Chaque établissement scolaire nomme un élève (deux dans le cas des Cégep). M. GÉRALD W. BRISSON Décédé le 6 juillet 2018 à l’âge de 86 ans. Fils de feu Amédée Brisson et de feu Laurette Loiselle, il était l’époux en 1ière noces de feu Rita Lamadeleine. Il laisse dans le deuil sa conjointe Pauline Prézeau et sa famille, ses enfants Diane (Richard Blais), Jacinthe (Jean-Paul Bruyère), Camille (feu Louise Daviau) et François (Raymonde Grenier), ses six petits-enfants Nathalie, Sonya, Mélanie, Jonathan, Patrice et Martin ainsi que huit arrière-petits-enfants.
