WMGA Senior Men’s ‘A’ Team The 2016 Washington Metropolitan Golf Association Senior ‘A’ Team competition matches will begin in April and continue into the first part of May for playoffs as needed. Division winners will proceed on to play single elimination quarter, semi-final, and final matches. We need the best senior golfers, age 55 and over, to represent Army Navy Country Club. Selection criteria for the team matches will be based on the 1 April 2016 handicaps (which are expected to be current and accurate). All matches are played at scratch. This is an excellent opportunity to compete with the best senior players in the Washington area. The Army Navy Country Club Senior ‘A’ Team has won over half of the championships contested. Spring Kick-Off Golf Tournament Saturday, 2 April The Spring Kick-Off Golf Tournament is the annual event that gets golf rolling here at ANCC. The event will be held on Saturday, 2 April at Fairfax. This tournament format is one of the favorite formats of the year. It’s a great way to start the season, get out with friends and enjoy a fun day of golf! The field is limited to the first 42 teams entered. This event sells out quickly every year! For more information and to enter beginning Wednesday, 2 March, click here . All golfers participating in ANCC golf tournaments (including all member-guest tournaments and mixed couples) are required to have an established USGA handicap with a minimum of 12 scores posted in the past 12 months to be eligible for the tournaments. 2016 Men’s Spring & Summer ‘A’ Teams

WNHGO (Women’s 9 Hole) The Women’s 9 Hole Golf Organization welcomes all new and return- ing members to the 2016 season. The Spring Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, 15 March at ANCC Arlington. Sign-up sheets are in the ladies locker rooms at Arlington and Fairfax. Sign-ups will take place for the yearly events and activities at 11 AM and lunch will follow at 12. The deadline for luncheon sign-up is Tuesday, 8 March. Tryouts will be held on 3 April at Fairfax, and on 9 April at in July. The two-day ‘A’ team tryout will be held on Saturday, 12 March and Sunday, 13 March at Fairfax. If you can play both days that would be great, but we recommend definitely playing one of the two days. At the completion of the two tryout rounds, the team roster for Spring 2016 will be set. of musculoskeletal issues ranging from headaches to knee pain. Additionally, general exercises and stretches will be recommended. The seminar will take place in the Arlington Room. Rainbow City Season opens Friday, 1 April with more weeks! We missed you and look forward to opening our doors for a new and extended year. Rainbow City will expand its hours of operation to include the period between late January to March 2017! This new “trial period” will allow members to take advantage of the Club’s dining and afternoon activities on Friday and Saturday evenings starting 27 January through 25 March 2017. No reservations necessary, except for special clubhouse events. Members, please take advantage and support the extended year so that we may continue to build on Rainbow City’s success. In addition, we will also open for our full time summer season 20 June. Online registration is available and all children must have a current 2016 registration on file prior to attending. Members whose children are in Rainbow City must remain on the Club grounds. Please take the time to review the Clubhouse Rules as they relate to Rainbow City. 17 April is ANCC’s annual “Suit Sizing” where team suits will be available for purchase and pick up from stock on hand. Team shirts, sweatshirts, backpacks, caps, shorts, goggles and other equipment will be available for purchase. If we run out of stock, we will take orders for pick up in early June. Swim and Dive Team Registration is scheduled to open 1 April. The 2016 ANCC Swim and Dive Season Starts in June and ends in July. The entire meet schedule will be on the ANCC website as soon as it is confirmed by the CCSDA. Team practices begin 1 June. Meets start 19 June with the Blue-Gold ‘Kick Off’ meet. CCSDA Dive Champs are 21 July - 22 July and the Swim Champs are 25 July - 26 July. The ANCC Swim and Dive Team banquet is 29 July. Did You Know? In February 1928, the membership of the “Army Navy and Marine Corps Country Club” (later ANCC) approved a reciprocal arrangement with the “Army and Navy Club” of Washington, DC. Under the agreement, mutual use of either club’s facilities was permitted. Additionally, if a member of either club chose to apply for membership in the other, it was agreed that their application, including reduced initiation and other fees would receive favorable consideration. However, it eventually became clear that merger conditions could not be agreed to, and the “Affiliation Agree- ment” was abrogated.
