Hunter Museum of American Art Chattanooga, Tenn. The EMJ team constructed the unique geometries of the Hunter Museum’s West Expansion using high-tech computer modeling technologies. Perched on a cliff top overlooking the Tennessee River, the picturesque addition neighbors a historic residence that housed the original museum and includes gallery space, an art storage facility, a café and a retail shop. EMJ performed all construction and site work associated with the expansion.

Huntsville Museum Huntsville, Ala.
EMJ performed the expansion of this two-level museum in downtown Huntsville. Exterior construction included a curtain wall, stucco, EIFS, specialty glass awnings, a retaining wall and all site work. Interior finishes included carpet, travertine tile accents and custom millwork to match the existing floor and door moldings. The EMJ team added a new elevator, a stage, retractable screens and blinds, a state-of-the art dimming and audio-visual system, a kitchen, new restrooms and more. The project team also coordinated with local authorities to rework a neighboring street and traffic signal.

Civil War Interpretive Center Corinth, Miss.
This Civil War museum is located on a historic 17-acre site within a residential neighborhood, and overlooks a railroad junction used during the war. EMJ’s work on the center included an interactive museum, auditorium, exhibit space, gift shop and bookstore, library, study and administrative offices. Site work included a courtyard featuring a detailed water feature and pool and a winding walkway with setbacks constructed to both complement and preserve much of the existing natural landscape.

Carnegie Arts Center Turlock, Calif.
EMJ restored the historic Carnegie Arts Center and added a new multi-level facility. The project included selective demolition and construction of the multi-level steel structure. Our team also managed the painting, complete replacement, and restoration of both interior and exterior finishes.

Fire Station No. 5 Flower Mound, Texas
EMJ constructed this high-quality, modern fire station and performed all site work, including utilities. The building consists of structural slab, masonry, and timber trusses and includes three apparatus bays, residential space and offices.

Pearland Recreation Center Pearland, Texas Construction of the recreation center included the gymnasium, weight room, racquetball courts, dance and aerobic rooms, kitchen, locker rooms, 50-meter pool, a second-story indoor track, and more. The project earned an Award of Excellence in the sports or recreation facilities category by Texas Construction.

The CORE Aquatic and Recreation Center Coppell, Texas
The EMJ team managed the budget, schedule, and constructability and logistics planning for the expansion and remodel of the existing facility. The addition included a new weight room and aerobics facility. Improvements to the natatorium included new pool lighting, decking and mechanical upgrades to the dehumidification and pump systems. Exterior renovations included a new water slide and resurfacing of the pool and deck. The lobby, offices and classrooms were renovated to complement the new construction.

Fairview Town Hall Fairview, Texas
EMJ constructed this five-story municipal hub for the City of Fairview, Texas. It houses offices and meeting space for town leadership, the police department, town council and more. The facility is built using cast-in-place concrete with natural limestone and a curtain wall exterior and includes geothermal and other energy efficient elements.

West Irving Library Irving, Texas
This LEED Gold-certified project is constructed of structural steel with a brick, stucco and metal panel exterior. The facility features a computer lab, business center, multiple reading areas and an outdoor patio. It is equipped to convert solar energy into electricity and its HVAC system includes geo-thermal wells that use energy from the earth to heat and cool the building, making the facility a “net zero” energy consumer. 11
Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute Chattanooga, Tenn.
Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute is a research center on the banks of the Tennessee River. Anticipated to be LEED Gold-certified, it provides a central location for researchers across the Southeast and serves as a living classroom, showcasing sustainable design. The building is constructed with structural insulated panels (SIPs), a highly sustainable, energy-efficient wall system, and numerous environmentally-conscious design elements, such as an elevator powered by canola oil. In addition to the facility’s sustainable structure, the site includes bio-retention and wetland preservation features.

Academic Building, SWTCC Memphis, Tenn.
EMJ’s team built the 106,300-square-foot, two-story facility using tilt-wall panels, a glass curtain wall system and channel glass. The interior’s labs, conference rooms and administrative offices have epoxy countertops and are equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual capabilities.

University Center, University of Memphis Memphis, Tenn.
EMJ built the three-story, 183,000-square-foot University Center and managed the demolition of the previous structure. The facility includes a striking sky-lit atrium, a computer lab, a food court, office space, a 1,000-seat dividable ballroom, a 350-seat theater, and various meeting and conference rooms.

College of Pharmacy, University of Tennessee Health Science Center Memphis, Tenn. The 184,000-square-foot, six-story research and education building houses science labs, classrooms, two large auditoriums, an apothecary museum, executive offices, biological safety cabinets, autoclaves and more. The structural steel frame is seismically braced and the foundation system required more than 1,000 auger cast piles ranging in depth from 12- to 60-feet deep.

Ringgold Middle School Ringgold, Ga.
EMJ constructed a new eighth-grade wing after a tornado destroyed sections of the school. EMJ’s work included partial demolition as well as new construction. The school remained open throughout the project, and our team completed its work four months ahead of schedule.

Conroe Center, Lone Star College Conroe, Texas The Conroe Center consists of three separate structures: the main building, workforce building and central utility plant. The main building houses a library, offices, computer labs with access raised floors, classrooms and science labs. The workforce building includes diesel and auto repair bays as well as an HVAC teaching lab. Each building is constructed of structural steel finished with masonry and metal panels.

Texas A&M Commerce Collegiate Housing Commerce, Texas
The 136,915-square-foot residence hall is located on the campus of Texas A&M University. With capacity for 490 students, the facility features two wings and offers private study rooms, several communal areas, and laundry facilities with smartphone app monitoring capabilities.
The Local at Texas State University San Marcos, Texas
The Local Downtown is a luxury, mid-rise student housing project located near the campus of Texas State University. The 217,000-square-foot, seven-story development is a concrete podium and wood structure with retail and parking on the ground floor and additional parking on the second level. Floors three through seven include 96 studio, one-, two- and four-bedroom units. The complex also offers a clubhouse lobby, fitness center, saunas, study lounge, computer lab with printing services, bicycle storage, media room and game room.
