DO YOU HAVE 1300, 1500 or 11,000?

The Poet’s Corner

The Quitter I’ve taught a class for many years; borne m an y burdens . . .to ile d through tears: but folks don't notice me a bit: I ’m discouraged, I’ll just quit. Some time ago I joined the choir that many folks I might inspire; but folks don’t seem moved a bit and I don’t understand it. I’ll just quit. I’ve led young people day and night and sacrificed to lead them right. But folks won’t help me out a bit, I ’m so tired, I think I’ll quit. Chrisfs cause is hindered every where and folks are dying in despair. The reason why? Just think a bit: the Church is full of folks who quit! •k 1e * A M ile and a Half We’re a mile and a half from church you know Let is rain today, we just couldn’t go; We go ten miles to a dance or a show Though the rain should fall and the wind should blow. But the church is different, we’d have you know That’s why when it rains, we just can’t go; But we always go to the things we like And we ride if we can, if we can’t well we’ll hike. We’re a mile and a half from the church you know And the tire is flat, so sorry we can’t go; We’d fix it twice to make a visit And if there?s a ball game we wouldn’t miss it. We’d mend that tire if at all we could And if we couldn’t, we’d go afoot; For hunting pleasure is all the style, So the church will just have to wait awhile. We’re a mile and a half from church you know And our friends are coming so we can’t go; To disappoint friends would seem unkind But to neglect worship we don’t mind. If we may please our friends on earth And spend the time in feasting and mirth; But some time when we come near the end of our day, Weill go to church and we’ll mend our ways. •—Herbert Harken, 10 years old

This w ill interest YOU . . . Our field representatives meet Christian men and women quite frequently who are looking for places to invest their money. Most of them need a return on their savings. Some are considering investments in stocks. But because of their limited knowledge of stocks and bonds, they are reluctant to buy. Others hesitate because of market fluctua tions, uncertainty of dividends, etc. And some tell us of disappointing experi ences on their investments. * * * Without exception, all are looking for security . . . a guarantee that they will be as sured of a generous income. Something they can count on as long as they live . . . in good times or bad . . . regardless of whether the stock market is up or down. But they’re interested in something else, too. * * * You should see their faces light up ... when we tell them about the DOUBLE dividends provided by Moody Annuities. When we tell them that Moody Annuities assure them of a generous, guaranteed income as long as they live (up to 8V4 % depending on their age) ... plus a share in the Lord’s work. . . they’re overjoyed! And when we tell them that every annuity is backed by .all the resources of Moody Bible Institute, and that MBI has never missed a single payment in almost 50 years . . . they are convinced that it’s the plan for them!
