3. MA I N DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Risk Management & Compliance • Anticipate, manage and resolve issues. Identify and minimise risks and facilitate the resolution of issues raised. • Work with Project Teams to ensure that contingency levels are actively managed and appropriate for the project stage. • Review, make recommendations and implement good practice measures for ensuring robust cost control on projects. • Provide advice and recommendations on appropriate forms of construction contract. • Provide initial advice on contractual disputes. • Maintain regular liaison with Legal Office and Solicitors to ensure that our documentation and contracts are in line with current legislation. • Review and monitor the University’s Standard Design Guide to ensure that its content offers value for money both in capital and revenue spend. Procurement • In conjunction with Procurement, advise the team on insurance matters for projects. • In conjunction with input from Procurement and Project Managers advise on the most suitable procurement routes at both project and programme levels. • Prepare or assist Project Managers in the preparation of Tender Reports • Review and comment on tender documents prepared by consultant teams and in-house staff. • Assist in the preparation of consultant tenders including framework mini-competitions. Management & Leadership • Assist project teams in the evaluation, interviewing and recommendation of contractors. • Carry out and manage contractual negotiations with contractors, consultants and other suppliers as required including agreeing service levels, fees and payments • In conjunction with Project Managers and the Framework Manager monitor the performance of cost consultants to ensure they are delivering the required service and consistency.
