T HE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S tbe joy we experienced and surely it was worth while. Transforming an Evening Gathering In this same 1 camp, one of the largest we visit, there is a large room where thirty or forty men gather every evening, some to play their musical instruments and ..some to play cards. We go into their midst, and ask them if they would like to hear us sing. Then we ask the men with guitars and mandolins if they will play while we sing, and after a song service we open up the Word to them, and soon the men drop their cards and listen to us with intense interest. On a recent night one of the men took our hand and said, “I want to thank you for coming to us and enlightening us in that which we in our country have been denied. We cannot thank you enough for it, and ,we want you to continue to come and instruct us in the Word of God.” One of our converts who has been a waiter in the cafeteria of the Bible In stitute had some severe hemorrhages. We called on him at his home and prayed with .him. That night he slept and has had no further trouble. Praise God for answered prayer. A Convert Spreads the Message Some yçars ago a Mexican woman def- initey accepted Christ and shortly after returned to Mexico. About a week ago, while we were holding a Sunday morn ing service in a camp, she walked into the meeting and later gave her testimony of receiving Christ as her Saviour be fore moving back to Mexico. There was no church or mission where she lived, but instead of getting cold and indiffer ent, she called together the women of her neighborhood every Sunday after noon and read the Scriptures to them, and she says that many of them are com ing into the light. Surely this is an ev idence oL the seed bringing forth'fruit. I dare say she would put to shame many American women, who have more light. Wé praise God for this,, another evidence that our labor is not in vain in the Lord. Some of our believers have told us that a great many of their neighbors are con vinced of the truth, but they haven’t the courage to take the step of confess ing Christ. We have several promising young men who have accepted Christ. They are anxious to be more thoroughly instructed in the Word, so that when they return to Mexico they can preach the Gospel to their own people. An-
that the young man is now the son-in-law of the pastor. Another recent convert is looking for ward to entering the Bible Institute in order to prepare himself for whatever work God has for him to do. This is in direct answer to prayer, for which we praise Him. As we look back over the work of the last .month and see here and there mir acles of His grace, we take courage to press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Our request for a line from those who would promise to join us in prayer for God’s blessing on the work, has brought a number of responses, and as tbe work grows, we covet more and more the prayers of God’s people for strength and wisdom to meet the great need. “Call upon Me and I will answer thee.” “Whatsoever ye ask the Father in My name, I will do it.” It is with a heart full of praise to our blessed Master that we pen the. following incidents which have come under our notice. The past month has been by far the most pro ductive of results that we have had for some time, both in regard to conversions and in increased interest. One case in particular was of special interest. In one of our camps we found a man who had been sick for ten months. We spoke to him about Christ as Saviour and healer, and offered prayer for him. On our return the following week, we inquired for him and were told that he was preparing his supper and as we turned to see him he looked up to us with a smile and said, “God answered your prayer for He has healed me.” That there might be no uncertainty we asked, “Do you believe God healed you?” and he said, “Yes, and I am so thankful.” Upon being asked if he would receive Jesus as his Saviour from sin, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and thanked Him for his salvation. On our next visit we learned that he had started for Mexico, but before leaving, he left a message with another man, ¿or us, saying that he was sorry to leave before he could see us, but he wanted us to know that he was so thankful because God had heard and answered our prayer, and trusted that God would give us our reward for coming to the camp and teaching them the truth of God.
