Street Rod Evangelists

GLENN HECHT East Missouri State Representative

I love cruising to east Missouri from my California hideaway for the Mid- America Street Rod Nationals and Glenn Hecht comes from Moscow Mills, Missouri. Glenn’s ’39 Chevy sedan features a Nova front subframe with disc brakes, a Ford 8- inch rear differential, Chevy 350 power with an automatic overdrive tranny, a mostly stock body painted Cool Vanilla, and a tan interior with power everything, plus Vintage Air A/C and a CB radio. I can’t wait for the 2026 Mid-America Street Rod Nationals, and like all second generation rodders, I’m sure your parents are proud of all the great rodding you do!

WALLY BURCHILL Minnesota State Representative Some cars look right straight from the factory, and I’ve always loved the 1968- 72 Chevrolet Corvette for this reason. The 1970-72 feature slightly flared fenders, but all of them feature chrome bumpers (front and rear) and way more power than the ’73 and later offerings. Wally Burchill from Stillwater, Minnesota, has kept his ’72 Corvette stock since buying it off Bring-a-Trailer. Wally’s version of America’s sports car features a Chevy 350 (L48) with a Turbo 350, four-wheel discs on independent suspension, a luggage rack, Warbonnet Yellow paint, a saddle vinyl interior, and 8-inch Rally wheels with BFG Radial T/A rubber. Keep on cruising the Vette and I’ll keep on drooling!

GAYLEN RAINFORTH Nebraska State Representative Gaylen Rainforth from Hastings, Nebraska, started 19 years ago with a stocker that he built into his beautiful ’35 Chevy Master sedan that looked so cool. I knew Gaylen owned this street rod when it cruised by me at the Springfield Nats last year. The Master runs a Hensman chassis with a Heidt’s tubular IFS, disc brakes, a four-link located Ford differential, 16/18-inch Hopsters wearing Kumho rubber, and a Chevy 350ci ZZ4 powerplant that spins a TH350. Dynamic Rides smoothed out the body after a custom grille and headlights were installed and Randy Lofquist custom-mixed the paint in a bright Brandywine. The Winchester Trim shop stitched the interior in bone leather. I haven’t gotten to know Gaylen yet, but based on his ’35, I’ll be watching for him this summer.
