VICKI JEFFUS East Texas State Representative Vicki Jeffus out of Paris, Texas, started rodding with her late husband, Hugh, and is still having a great time. Vicki’s ’36 Ford pickup is ready for miles of smiles running a Mustang II IFS, a Ford 9-inch rear differential, power four-wheel disc brakes, a Chevy 383 stroker backed up with a 700R4 overdrive, and 14/15-inch chrome wire wheels. The Hugh Jeffus bodywork is covered in Randy Roach- sprayed PPG paint in silver over red that complements an interior in gray upholstery that hides the A/C and Painless Performance wiring. I love that you have been to all the lower 48 states in the hauler and can’t wait to see you in just a month or two.
ANTHONY BIRKENFELD West Texas State Representative
Tony Birkenfeld out of Amarillo, Texas, was inspired to get into street rodding and NSRA by ex- NSRA Event Director Pat Newell, who is missed by all since retiring in 2006. Tony has had his ’57 Ford Ranchero for six years and he built it up using a high- performance Ford 302/C4 powertrain and then straightened out the body and laid down Persian Sand paint. After slipping on five-spoke mags mounted with Advanta rubber, Tony did the air-conditioned interior in Desert Sand and black. I love this Ranchero and it’s always good seeing it cruising all over the South.
WALTER KRUGER Western Missouri State Representative Walt Kruger out of Walnut Grove, Missouri, found his California-delivered ’56 Chevrolet sedan delivery online. Walt started out by perfectly restoring the stock suspension, he updated the rear to a 12-bolt, added power steering and brakes, and then added a 350 from a ’69 SS Chevy and a 700R4 to make for great highway cruising on 15-inch Americans spinning Cooper rubber. He then slipped in a BelAir dash with a full gauge package, seats from a ’90 Silverado, and Vintage Air A/C. The cool hauler still wears PPG lacquer from 1978 in Candy Apple Red with a more recent suede silver gray roof. The more I know about your ’56, the more I’ll take a better look for it in Springfield.
