Why We Created the GAP Graduate Development Programme
At GAP Hire Solutions, the UK’s largest independent hire company, we’re looking for talented individuals to join our Graduate Development Programme. Working as part of our close-knit team, our 18-month programme is designed to set you up for a successful career. Combining structured training, hands-on experience, and mentorship from industry experts, it’s the perfect opportunity to kick-start your career with a market leader. Throughout the programme, you’ll receive continuous support and guidance to help you reach your potential. You’ll develop key skills, gain in-depth industry knowledge, and learn how to build lasting relationships with colleagues and customers in a fast-paced and dynamic industry.

Our Graduate Development Programme runs for 18 months and includes different placements. Each placement is carefully designed to give you the training, development and hands-on experience you need to excel in a career at GAP. The rotational design of the programme helps us guide and nurture individuals throughout the journey, whilst also remaining flexible, with the ability to adjust and adapt the focus of the placements based on graduate needs and overall business objectives. In addition to the general Graduate Development Programme, we also offer more specific Graduate Programmes across specialist areas of the business, including: • Marketing • Human Resources • Finance • Technology • Customer Experience • Supply Chain

Specialist Graduate Programmes
The Graduate Development Programme Over 18 months, you’ll gain hands-on experience across key areas of the business, building the skills and knowledge needed to succeed at GAP.
We also offer specialist graduate programmes, separate from the rotational pathway, for those looking to focus on a specific area from the outset. Based at our Glasgow Head Office, these programmes are available in: • Marketing • Human Resources • Finance • Technology • Customer Experience • Supply Chain
Operations Start on the hire desk within one of our depots, learning how we deliver exceptional service, support our customers and operate day-to-day. Head Office Functions Gain exposure to teams such as Commercial, Procurement, Finance and Customer Service, developing your commercial awareness, analytical skills and understanding of how the wider business operates. Sales & Major Accounts Work alongside our sales teams, visiting customer sites, supporting revenue generation and gaining experience in managing key client relationships.
You’ll gain in- depth experience within your chosen function, working on key projects and developing specialist expertise from day one.

At the end of the Programme
By the end of our programme, you’ll have a strong, well rounded understanding of GAP Group, the wider industry, and the customers we support. Through hands on experience you’ll have developed the confidence to contribute effectively to day to day activity, support customer needs, and play a part in achieving team objectives. You’ll also have gained the business awareness to understand how different teams work together to deliver great service.
With this blend of practical knowledge, professional skills, and on the job experience, you’ll be well prepared to take your next step. Once you successfully complete the programme, we’ll work closely with you to identify a permanent role that aligns with your strengths, interests, and performance. We’ll explore all available opportunities across our teams to help you continue building your career at GAP.
Throughout the programme, you’ll benefit from structured training, on-the-job learning, and mentorship from experienced colleagues. You’ll be supported to develop professionally and personally, gaining the confidence and capability to take on increasing responsibility as you progress.

Do I need to have any industry experience prior to joining? Not at all. Our graduates tend to join us with no prior industry experience. We encourage you to explore the GAP website to get a feel for what we do, but the graduate scheme is designed to give you all the training and support you need to succeed. What does the recruitment process look like? Once you have applied, we will review you CV and update you accordingly. If you’re moved to interview stage, we will invite to an in-person initial interview to learn more about you and why you’re attracted to this programme. If this goes well, you’ll be invited back for a final stage interview where you will present to us and complete psychometric profiling so we can get to know you better and you can find out more about the programme.
What are the career prospects after completing the programme? We hope the programme will enable you to find which area of the business you enjoy and suits you best. This could lead to employment in a wide range of functions, including Operations, Sales, Finance, HR, Marketing or Commercial to name a few. Will the Graduate Programmes have a dedicated point of contact to share feedback with? Yes, for each programme you will a minimum of one point of contact in head office throughout the programme who you can go to for any questions or support.
