VISUALLY IMPAIRED All visually impaired matches will be conducted in accordance with the United States Blind Horseshoe Pitchers Association rules, except as modified herein. Auditory aid (tapping on the stake) may be provided for the visually impaired competition. 1. All pitching distances are measured from the bottom of the stake to the pitching line. All pitches thrown should occur behind the pitching line. 2. First pitch is determined by the toss of a coin. 3. Players shall alternate first pitch, one player having first pitch in the odd number innings and the other player in the even number innings. 4. Highest point score will determine the winner. 5. Pitching distances will vary based on age, female and male, and divisions. 6. Pitching Distance: a. Ambulatory Men 55-69 – 37 ft.

b. Ambulatory Men 70 and up – 27 ft. c. Ambulatory Women 55-64 – 27 ft. d. Ambulatory Women 65 and up – 20 ft. e. Wheelchair and VI – Men – 20 ft. f. Wheelchair and VI – Women – 15 ft.

7. The “count all’ method will be used, the Athlete with the highest score advances to the next round. 8. Each player shall receive credit for all points according to the position of the shoes at the end of each inning. a. Ringers – 3 points b. Shoes within 6 inches of the stake – 1 point c. Shoes touching or leaning on a stake but not a ringer – 1 point. Ties 1. Ties shall be broken by pitching an extra inning, for a maximum of two additional innings. At the conclusion of two additional innings and there is still a clear winner. Each athlete will be able to throw one horseshoe with the closest shoe to the stake being the winner. 2. First Place ties will play a 3-shoe playoff game to decide 1st and 2nd place. All other ties will be decided by head-to-head competition and then by points scored if still tied.
