The mayors on counties council are angry that the provincial government failed to include the rural viewpoint in the new mandatory certification process it created for municipal fire departments throughout the province. Mayor Gary Barton of Champlain Township raised the issue during the March 14 com- mittee of the whole session of the United Counties of Prescott-Russell council (UCPR).
