was a success again this year, with 140 runners of all shapes, sizes and ages com- ing out to run in cool damp conditions on Saturday, May 11. The run is an initiative of the Russell Sport and Community Centre (former Youth Cen-
tre) and is one of the many projects the club has to promote physical activity. As in previ- ous years, the run began and ended on the Russell High School track beside the centre. The event was divided into two runs, the 1.2 km kids’ run, which started shortly after
9 a.m. and the 5 km youth and adult run. The well-organized event provided runner badges, drinks and healthy snacks, as well as the opportunity for early registrants to buy t-shirts. Organizers were pleased with the participation of the community.

Above, the youth and adult 5 km run started off in cool, damp weather on Sat- urday, May 11, at the track behind Rus- sell High School, as the second run of the annual Russell Run event. At right, three- year-old Grant Taylor of Russell was the last child across the finish line at the Kids 1.2 km Fun Run. His mother, also a run- ner, had to chase him with a worm part of the way. He was also one of the young- est runners.
